Rathfon, 89, of Leeper, died early Monday morning in the home of her son, John Rathfon of Bruin. She had been ill for a long time. Born July 23, 1887, at Tylersburg, she was a daughter of Mark C. and Lottie Alt Hulings. She resided in Tylersburg for many years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was married August 22, 1917, to Fred G. Rathfon, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1950. Surviving are: two sons, Calvin of Leeper and John of Bruin, a sister, Mrs. Fred (Genevieve) Sheakley of Knox; a brother, Carl Hulings of Coraopolis; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Tylersburg Cemetery. on December 7, 1975.4

Kurtzhals circa 1940.3,11 John Gold Rathfon died on March 10, 2005 at Butler, Butler Co., Pennsylvania, at age 85.8,3,9,10,11 He John G. Rathfon, 85, of Bruin died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness. Born June 27, 1919, in Tylersburg, Clarion County, he was the son of Frederick and Parma Hulings Rathfon. He was a longtime active member of St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Parker. He enjoyed gardening and created both bountiful food and floral gardens. Mr. Rathfon was an oil specialist in the Navy during World War II and much of his duty was in Aruba. He retired in 1986 after 45 years with Pennsylvania Refining Co., now Penreco, in Karns City, where his last position was a tube still operator. For more than 30 years, he was a well-known WPIAL official at basketball games in Western Pennsylvania. He also was recognized for his ability as an official, not only at local high school games, but was often chosen to officiate at playoff games at all levels of tournament play. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Josephine Kurtzhals Rathfon; a daughter, Mrs. Dominic (Yvonne A.) DeBacco of Chicora; three sons, John Henry Rathfon of Slippery Rock, Dr. James D. Rathfon of Butler and J. Bradley Rathfon of Hunlock Creek, Luzerne County; nine grandchildren, Dominic DeBacco II, Aimee Rathfon, Jon Erik Rathfon, Stephanie Roskovski, Jennifer McCarren, Angela Vizzini, Tiffany Rathfon, Cortney Rathfon and Shana Rathfon; and eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brittany and Brielle DeBacco, Olivia Jones, Cameron and Jon Erik Rathfon and Jacob and Sophia Roskovski. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry L. Rathfon, who died Jan. 24, 1993, and a brother, Calvin Rathfon. RATHFON - Friends of John G. Rathfon, who died Thursday, March 10, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Parker, with the Rev. Anthony Ditto officiating. Burial will be in Perryville Cemetery near Parker. on March 11, 2005.3

     Mary Jane Obenreder was buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Crown, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1 Her Social Security Number was 211-38-0322.2 She was born on July 26, 1918 at Fryburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,3,2 As of September 28, 1939,her married name was Rathfon.1 She married Calvin Alt Rathfon, son of Fredrick Griffith "Fred" Rathfon and Parma F. Huling, on September 28, 1939 at Fryburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1 Mary Jane Obenreder died on March 5, 2006 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 87.1,3 She Mary Jane Rathfon, 87, of Leeper, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Clarion Hospital. Born July 26, 1918, in Fryburg, she was the daughter of Joseph George and Matilda Catherine Ginkel Obenreder. Mrs. Rathfon was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown. She was a prolific quilter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially afghans. She also was an avid golfer for many years. She and her husband were the first members of Hi-Level Golf Course and she was the first woman to make a hole-in-one there. Mrs. Rathfon was married in Fryburg Sept. 28, 1939, to Calvin Alt Rathfon, who died May 14, 1984. Surviving are three sons and their wives, Stan and Donna Rathfon of Tylersburg, Fredrick "Rick" and Susan Rathfon of Clarion and Mark and Sheila Rathfon of Clarion; one daughter and husband, Mona Elaine and Don Kline of Leeper; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Joseph "Bus" Obenreder of New Port Richey, Fla; a sister, Genevieve McMahon of Oil City; two sisters-in-law, Lilly Obenreder of Erie and Josephine Rathfon of Bruin; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rathfon was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Frank, Robert, Leo "Jobe" and Eugene Obenreder; four sisters, Lavada Kerr, Mona Walter, Germaine O'Connor and Dorothy Wolbert; and a grandson, Brian Joseph Rathfon, Sept. 27, 1999. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Borland Funeral Home Inc. in Leeper. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Church, Crown, with the Rev. Denny Veltri, pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA or to the Farmington Area Ambulance Service.

     Stanley R. "Stan" Rathfon was buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Crown, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.2 He Stanley R. Rathfon, 81, of Leeper, died peacefully, Monday, June 7, 2021 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born April 22, 1940 in Brookville, he was a son of the late Calvin Alt and Mary Jane Obenreder Rathfon. After graduating from North Clarion High School, Stan served in the United States Marine Corps. Stan had a passion for trains, astronomy, reading, wildlife, dogs, music, and hunting. Stan was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown, and the Knights of Columbus of Crown. On October 14, 1961, he was married to Donna L. Frederick who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Lance Rathfon and his wife Kimberly of Leeper, Kelley Amsler and her husband Donnie of Valencia, Jennifer Barron and her husband Jeff of Fryburg, Laura Johnson and her husband Darren of Almont, ND, and Kurt Rathfon and his wife Lori of Leeper; seven grandchildren, Whitney Rathfon, Hilliary Rathfon Lawrence and her husband Doug, Gabrielle Rathfon, Leah Rathfon, Ashley Barron, Abbey Barron, and Connor Amsler; and four great grandchildren, Jaylynn, Weston, Douglas III, and Alexandria Lawrence. Also surviving are two brothers, Rick Rathfon and his wife Susan of Shippenville, Mark Rathfon and his wife Sheila of Clarion, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, M. Elaine Kline; a brother-in-law, Donald J. Kline; and two nephews, Brian J. Rathfon and Scott A. Kline. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.2 He was born on April 22, 1940 at Brookville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania.2 He married Donna Louise Frederick on October 14, 1961 at Tylersburg, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.2 Stanley R. "Stan" Rathfon died on June 7, 2021 at Seneca, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, at age 81.2
