Smith and Alice Emma Kaneen, on February 10, 1946 at Illinois.^1,2 Alice Louise "Sally" Redman died on April 23, 2012 at Illinois at age 93.² She Alice Louise (Redman) Smith, better known as Sally, 93, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Hawthorne Nursing Home where she had been a patient a short time. She was born Feb. 14, 1919 to Grace and Clarence Redman near Potomac. An aunt, Lola Ehorn, also preceded her in death. She became the beloved wife of Harlan E. Smith on Feb. 10, 1946, and later the mother of daughter, Gail Chase. She cherished being grandmother to David (Sarah) McHone-Chase, of DeKalb, and Lisa (David) Tollefson, of Puyallup, Wash; and great-grandmother to Iris McHone-Chase and Brianna Tollefson. Prior to joining her new husband just back from World War II in the family business, she taught first and third grades in Farmer City and Danville. She and Harlan owned and operated C.H. Smith Insurance Agency until 1991, where she was the "office girl behind the desk" for more than 45 years. Not content to "retire," she went to work at the Danville Election Commission before she began her volunteer life at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Sally enjoyed many clubs and activities including Danville Professional Women's Club, Money Minders, Women's Club of Danville, Republican Women and PEO. As an active member of Central Christian Church, she served in many capacities but was likely best known for her role in the Central Christian Church nursery where she became "Granny Sally" and loved many generations of children and their families. She touched the hearts of many and will be missed. on April 25, 2012.²

Her marriage was to A. Lee Cunningham on Dec. 27, 1939, and he died March 28, 1996. Mrs. Cunningham was a homemaker who assisted on the family farm. She was a member of the Home Extension Club and Antioch Church of Christ, was a 4-H leader and Bible school teacher, and also served as a church pianist. She enjoyed tending to her livestock, gardening, basketball and music. Surviving are her children, Joan Fry (husband: Joe) and Connie Glover, both of Boswell, Jean Little (husband: Dennis) of Palmyra, Ill., and Gale Cunningham (wife: Beth) of Tilton, Ill; and a sister, Anna Jane Swartz of Wellington. She enjoyed her 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded by a brother, Carl Echard; grandson, Tyson Lee Cunningham; and a son-in-law, Dick Ice. Interment Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL. on May 15, 2007.²
