On June 27, 1954 he was married to Elizabeth Lyster at Greeley, Co. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Benedict; two brothers William Jr and his wife Alice Eckles of Lincoln and Phillip Eckles of Nelson, NE; two sisters Betty Jo Pittam of Mills City, OR and Maxine C. McCutchan of Nelson. Also surviving is a brother in law Norman C. Lyster of Greeley, CO; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers in law and a sister in law. Inurnment will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday in the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson. on July 27, 2006.5

On December 21, 1957 Duane was united in marriage to Emma Ashby. This union was blessed with the birth of four children: Gary and Ed and daughters Gaila and Kim. Duane and Emma lived and farmed south Edgar until moving into in Edgar in 1979 and retired from farming in 1993. Duane and Emma were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage on December 21, 2007. Duane was a member of American Legion Post #248 for 53 years. In his spare time Duane enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Gary. Survivors include his wife Emma of Edgar, NE; son Ed Skinner and wife Robin of Edgar, NE; daughters: Gaila Skinner of Grand Island, NE; Kim Harms and husband Dan of Glenvil, NE; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday 10:30 AM, January 17, 2008 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor Jeff Glawe will be officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 am to 8 pm at the funeral home.
