In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Campbell; and two brothers, Greeley Conner and Steve Pennington; and his step-father, Peter F. Pennington. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Lambert Irvin Conner of the home; his children, Vickie Haynes, Ted Ray Irvin Jr., Charles Conner, David Conner, Donna Slykerman, Rodney Conner and Nancy Miller; two sisters, Helen Hartley and Linda Collins; and one brother, Holly Conner. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nikki Henderson, Kris Dragon, Misty Smith, Andrew Cring, Amanda Cring, David Conner, Jaime Randell, Amber Haynes, Steven Slykerman and Susie Yancy; and thirteen great-grandchildren. on August 21, 2012.3

Mrs. Smith was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Junior Smith on Jan. 29, 2002. Survivors include her brother, Elbert Jackson Linkous and his wife Geraldine of Wilmington, Del; nieces, Deborah Weyd of Newark, Del. and Rebecca Harris of Eagle River, Ark; sisters-in-law, Bondean Spence of Lewisburg and Laura Thorn of Mullins. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church in Salisbury with the Rev. Ricky Brown, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Smith will be placed in the church 1 hour before the service. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum. He was a celebrated Veteran of the United States Army, specifically World War II, and was a member of the John Dove Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M., and the I.O.O.F. Lindside Lodge #362, Lindside, W.Va., and also a charter member of the Ballard Ruritan Club. His family and church were the most important aspects of his life. He was employed by Celanese for over 48 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thayer and Garvis Spangler; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Faye Sibold. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maude Frances Mann; one sister, Gladys Conner Humphreys and husband, Charles; one son, Roger Dale Spangler and wife, Lynda Kay; one daughter, Drema Faye Sibold and husband, Dennis Wayne; two grandsons, Archie Dale Spangler and wife and son, Cheryl and Austin, Dewey Wayne Sibold and son and daughter, Ridge and Ragan; one granddaughter, Diana Lynn Christian and husband, daughter, and son, Edward, Katlin and Zachary. on November 24, 2001.4

Left to cherish her memory is a son Roger Spangler, and a daughter-in-love Lynda, a daughter, Drema Sibold and a son-in-love Wayne. Three grandchildren: Diana Christian and husband Eddie, Dewey Sibold and Lynne and Archie Spangler. Six great grandchildren: Katlin Forward, Zachary Christian, Ridge Sibold, Ragan Sibold, Austin Spangler and Cambria Spangler. One great great grandchild, Titus Forward and a church family she loved serving Christ with. on May 1, 2017.3
