She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Eldridge Kirby Sr; two brothers, Clenden Smith and Henry Smith; and a sister, Bertha Kirby. Survivors include a son, Dewey E. “Bud” Kirby Jr. of Glen Alpine, N.C; a daughter, Lula Edith Kirby Bradley of Glen Alpine; an adopted son, Everett Lonnie Kirby of Morganton; an adopted daughter, Lula Mae Kirby Patton of Florida; two stepdaughters, Mary Altizer of Baltimore and Betty Wade of Canebrake; five brothers, Cecil Smith and Thomas Smith, both of Indianapolis, Jack Smith of Alderson, Elliot Smith of Clayton and Daniel Smith of Alderson; four sisters, Grace Persinger, Clara Persinger and Leota Cantley, all of Pence Springs, and Ida Bennett of Lebanon, Tenn; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery. on February 24, 1999.3

Samuel Harrison Toney was buried at Lee Webb Cemetery, Dothan, Fayette Co., West Virginia.2 He Samuel Harrison Toney, of Front Royal Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 6th, 2019. He was born October 13, 1943 to the late Charles Hayden Toney and Wilma Dana Smith Toney. Samuel, better known as Sam, was a graduate of Collins High School and worked construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, siting on his porch and gardening. Sam was a former member of the Dothan Missionary Church. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Sam Toney and Lottie Bragg Toney, maternal grandparents, Albert Sidney Smith and Gretchen C. Bragg Smith and a brother, E.L. Fred Toney. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Samantha Toney of Marietta Ga, Angela Smith (Kipp) of Douglas GA, grandson Kaden Jordan Smith, brothers Isaac Toney (Lou) of Oak Hill, Albert Toney (Dawn) of North Carolina, Preston Toney (Malinda) of Oak Hill, Mart Toney, sisters Shelvy Wiley of Fayetteville, Charlotte Williams (Charles) of Scarbro, Wilda Hall (Steve) of Kentucky and Jan Kirk.
