He was preceded in death by his son, Charles L. Cook II; and three brothers, Mark Cook, C.E. "Bobby" Cook and James Frank Cook. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Sweeney Cook; a son, Charles Emery Cook at home; two daughters, Terri Deana Rakes and husband, Mark, of Oak Hill and Connie Susan Jennings and husband Danny Jr., of Beckley; a son, Robert Lee Cook and wife, Tina, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Steven, and Brian Lanham, Douglas and Desirae Thompson, Derian Jennings, Paige and Isaiah Cook; a brother, Paul Cook of Pineville; and five sisters, Brenda Cruikshank of Oak Hill, Judy Lucas of Oak Hill, Betty Kelly of Michigan, Kitty Frances of Surveyor and Tammy McClung of North Carolina. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Roger Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Steven Lanham, Douglas Thompson, Ronnie McCormmick, Dale Drennen, Richard Stewart and Danny Jennings Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles "Chubs" Cook, Brian Lanham and Roy Lee Frances. Perry was originally charged with malicious wounding and released on bond. After Cook's death, the spokesman said, the charge was upgraded to murder. Perry is now being held in the Wyoming County Jail. Cook was a self-employed construction worker. Surviving: son, Gene of Minden; daughter, Carley of Ravencliff; mother, Ruby M. Wall Cook of Oak Hill; brothers, Luther C. of Oak Hill, James F. of Bolt, Nathan P. of Ravencliff; sisters, Brenda Warrick and Judith Lucas, both of Oak Hill, Betty Kelly of Dearborn Heights, Mich., Kitty Francis of Surveyor, Tamela McClung of South Carolina. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Prosperity, with the Rev. Lewis Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. on October 25, 1990.3

He was a retired custodian with the Mercer County Board of Education retiring from Oakvale School in 1985. He was of the Protestant faith, a life-long resident of the Ingleside area, a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II, and the last surviving member of his immediate family. Joe was a master gardener taking pride in his ability to raise flowers and vegetables to sell at the Farmer's Market in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby "Margaret" Skeens Terry on Oct. 3, 1978; two sisters, Aileen Sprinkle and Martha Fitzwater; three brothers, Woodrow Terry, Charlie Terry and George "Phil" Terry; and a half brother, Mack Hudson. Survivors include three sons, Bobby Joe Terry, Jimmy Terry, and Bobby Wayne Terry all of Princeton; five daughters, Rita Terry of the home, Peggy Terry of Kentucky, Holly Roark of Princeton, Candy Terry of Oakvale and April Terry of Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Delmar Stilwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery in Hardy with the WV National Guard Honor Team conducting military graveside rites. At Joe's request, his daughters will serve as pallbearers along with Mark Roark, Alvin Dale Shrewsbury, Jimmie Martin, James Roark, Carl Dickerson and Larry Rice. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today. on January 26, 2007.1

He was of the Baptist faith. He worked as a construction worker most of his life, having worked for strip mining companies, Century Mining, Bristol Inc., Childers Drilling and Blue Boy Coal Company. He also worked on Interstate 64 and the West Virginia Turnpike. He had been a resident of Ingleside most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clover Maxine Pennington Terry; two sisters, Aliene Sprinkle and Martha Fitzwater, and two brothers, Max Hudson and Woodrow Terry. Survivors: daughters, Margaret Ann Helton and Glenda Smith, both of Ingleside, Nancy Brown of Oakvale and Teresa Kinsey of St. Marys, Ga; sons, George Philip Terry Jr., and Jerry Wayne Terry, both of Ingleside; brothers, Charlie Terry and Joe Terry, both of Ingleside; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Pastor Terry Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Pennington Family Cemetery on the Halls Ridge Road in Princeton. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Sandy River District of the American Legion Post 175 of Bradshaw and the and the Mercer County Veterans Council. on March 29, 1995.4

"Bill" Sprinkle, 77, of Route 4, Princeton, died Saturday morning at a Princeton hospital. Born at Ingleside, he was the son of the late Sam and Elsie Sprinkle. He lived in Mercer County all of his life and was a retired employee of Appalachian Power's Glen Lyn plant. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the East River Ruritan Club. He was a member of the Kellysville Church of God. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Aleen Terry Sprinkle; son, Willie Lee Sprinkle of Hardy; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Davis Funeral Chapel in Oakvale with the Rev. Chelsey Noel and Pastor Joseph R. Darden officiating. Burial will be at Oakvale Cemetery in Oakvale. on January 24, 1988.3
