Employed with the Union Carbide Metals Co. at Alloy, he was a member of the Boomer Baptist Church, and Page Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. A lifelong resident of Fayette County, he lived at Boomer for 24 years. Survivors include his wife, Mazie; a son, Charles Shawkey of Montgomery; a brother, Emmet Shawkey of Page; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Anderson of Man, and Mrs. Goldie Garbett and Miss Gertrude Shawkey, both of Oak Hill. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Boomer Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry S, Stevens in charge. Burial will be in the Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Members of the Page Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, will conduct graveside rites. on July 20, 1961.3
