Ila Marie Akers Ila Marie (Akers) Cecil, age 94, of Townsend, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Born in Arista, WV, on April 14, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Wesley and Lois Rose (Elvy) Akers. Ila was married in 1950 and cherished the ability to work as a homemaker, raising their three children. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sharing her crafts with her family. In addition to her parents, Ila is preceded in death by four brothers and two grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Robert Lloyd Cecil; children, Barbara A. Cooke, Robert D. Cecil, Sr. (Margaret), and Sandra K. Sheats; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.2 She was born on April 14, 1927 at Arista, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1,3,2 As of June 23, 1950,her married name was Cecil.1 She married Robert Lloyd Cecil, son of Leo Lloyd Cecil and Minnie Margie Hall, on June 23, 1950 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.1,2 Ila Marie Akers died on January 2, 2022 at Townsend, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 94.2

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with Pastor Bruce Young officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. on July 23, 2008.2
