George was in a hospital on January 24, 1864 where he apparently stayed for 7 days, even though he was considered well on January 25. George's name appeared on the a register of the Receiving and Wayside Hospital for duty January 31, 1864 - February 3, 1864. He was 'Present' April 30, 1864. On June 13, 1864 George was in Chimborazo Hospital No. 3 in Richmond. On June 30, 1864 he was absent from duty because he was still sick in the hospital. George was transferred from the Richmond hospital to a Lynchburg Hospital on July 4, 1864, where he was apparently discharged sometime later.
On August 31, 1864, George was sent to the hospital, supposedly dead. He died there in August of 1864 in a Lynchburg hospital of chronic diarrhea.1 He was born in 1834 at Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.1,3 He died on August 15, 1864 at Lynchburg, Virginia.1,3
