She was born Aug. 22, 1871, the daughter of Martin C. and Fanny Hill, who organized the first private school in Charleston. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Surviving are two daughters, Jean and Marjorie Hutchinson, and two sons, L. W. and J. P. Hutchinson, all of Charleston; two grandchildren, Jane and Betty Jean Hutchinson of Beckley, and a nephew, Dr. Frank Wysor of Clifton Forge, Va. Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the residence with Dr. Eugene M. Austin, pastor of the Baptist temple, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery. The body was removed from the Barlow mortuary to the residence yesterday. Pallbearers will be Al Fischer, William Abbott, Burr Queen, Ned Wiser, Lawrence Reddington, Robert Clark and G. E. Griffen. on February 2, 1947.3

Born August 24, 1922 at Beckley, he was the son of the late Lyle M. and Lorena Lilly Hutchinson. Mr. Hutchinson was a police officer with the Beckley Police Department, retiring in 1968 with 20 years of service. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Employment Security in 1978 and rejoined the Beckley Police Department for five more years of service. He was a member of the Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of American Legion Post 32. He served five years of war time service from October 1942 to February 1947 with the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the European African and Asian theaters. Survivors include his wife Irene, Black Hutchinson; two sons, Robert G. Hutchinson and his wife, Nancy of Fuquay, Varina, N.C. and Sam Hutchison and his wife, Beverly of Beckley; a sister, Betty Mullins of Beckley, and four grandchildren, Shawn, Julie, Serenity and Samantha Hutchinson. At his request his body has been donated to West Virginia University Medical School. on December 8, 1994.5

Loving, on February 12, 1945 at Washington, D.C..3,4 Dr. Eugene David Thoenen died on May 31, 1969 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 59.4 He Funeral services for Dr. Eugene David Thoenen, 59, of Charleston, will be conducted Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the St. John Episcopal Church in Charleston. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Dr. Thoenen died in a Charleston hospital Saturday at 8 a.m. following a short illness. Born March 10, 1910, in Sistersville, he was a son of the late David E. and Marguerite Thoenen. He was married to the former Grace Hutchinson of Beckley. Attending Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pa., he received his A.B., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees at West Virginia University. He served with the West Virginia Social Security Administration. Dr. Thoenen taught at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa; Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Pa., and Bloomsburg State College in Bloomsburg, Pa. Until the time of bis death he served as director of Veterans Training of the West Virginia Department of Education. Thoenen was also a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Phoenix Lodge, Sistersville, the St. Jolm Episcopal Church, and the West Virginia Historical Association. Additional survivors include a son, David, Swarthmore College; a daughter, Eugenia, New York City, and a sister, Miss Grace Thoenen, Sistersville. The body is at the Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home in Charleston. on June 1, 1969.4

Walter grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduated from Adelphi Academy then Columbia University with a degree in Mining Engineering. He served in the United States Army. He was employed by New Jersey Zinc Company in Austinville, Va., then National Gypsum Company in Pearisburg, Va. He truly enjoyed living in Southwest Virginia, calling it "God's Country." Throughout his life, he spent much time in the service of others, working with the Austinville Ruritan Club, Boy Scouts of America, and as a long standing member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alice "Betty" Paulson. He will be greatly missed by Ann Henley Paulson, his wife of eight years, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children and their families, Dianne, Bill, Seth and Abigail Lacy, of Radford, Va., Mark, Anne, Courtney and Nick Paulson, of Durham, N.C., Martin, Ann Marie, Brigitta, Marta, and Louisa Paulson, of Draper, Va; and Ann's daughter and grandson, Susan and Todd Paris, of Stuart, Va. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pulaski, Va., with a celebration of Walter's life beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor Terrie Sternberg officiating. A Graveside Service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pulaski. on September 5, 2013.4
