     Ruth Elizabeth Thompson Ruth Elizabeth Mowery of Forest Hill, West Virginia, 91 was taken gently through Heavens ‘gates at 5:00 p.m. Sunday January 27, 2013 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale surrounded by her family. Ruth suffered a long illness and is now at peace. She was born on December 19th, 1921, in Ballard, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Oran and Maude Hill Thompson. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church at Forest Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold E. Mowery. Also preceded in death were her siblings: Arnold Thompson, Dean Thompson, Sanford Thompson, Fred Thompson, Ellen Campbell Mills and Willey Meadows. Those left to cherish her memory include her only daughter, Joyce Waltman and son-in-law John Waltman of Forest Hill both of who cared for her with love. Also surviving is her brother, Tommy Thompson who resides in Florida. Two granddaughters: Monica Ruth Leak Owens, husband Fred Owens of Fredericksburg, VA and Shellie Leak Radolinski, husband Steven Radolinski of Mechanicsville, VA. Two step granddaughters Karin Powell, husband Chris Powell of Bel Air, MD and Kathy Johnson, husband Mike Johnson of Westchester, PA. She also was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Aaron Frederick Owens, Zackary Steven Radolinski and Madeline Rae Radolinski. Funeral services will be conducted at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton on Saturday February 2nd, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Orville Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Church Cemetery at Forest Hill. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers: Ernie Wheeler, Fred Thompson, Don Waltman, Fred Owens, Steve Radolinski, Aaron Owens and Zackary Radolinski. Our special thanks to Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Southern WV. Born April 8, 1922, at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Emma F. Hutchison Light. She was a former employee of Keaton Cleaners and Laundry in Hinton and last employed in the housekeeping department of Pipestem State Park. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church at Forest Hill and had lived all her life in Summers County. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer C. Jones; her second husband, Cecil Broyles; a son, Kenneth Jones; and a brother, Jim Light. Survivors include a son, Johnny Jones of Hinton; a daughter, Marcelene Cook of Peterstown; five grandchildren, Casey Jones of Boston, Mass., David Lee Cook of Wendell, N.C., Daniel and Kevin Cook of Peterstown and Valerie Cook of Beckley; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Forest Hill. Born May 11, 1885, in Floyd County, Va., he was a son of the late Samuel and Victoria Light Swepston. He was a resident of Marie for 60 years where he was a timberman and farmer. Swepston attended the New Hope Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Anna Tabor Swepston; a son, Jimmy of Manassas, Va; a daughter, Mrs. Athoel Lilly of Marie; a sister, Mrs. Cola Allen of Hinton; two half brothers, E. C. Yates of Beckley and W. B. Yates of Marie, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Fairview Baptist Church at Forest Hill with the Revs. Olen Winfree, H. C. Prince and William Jenkins in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the home at 2 p.m. today from the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton and will be placed on the church one hour prior to the funeral. on October 29, 1965.⁴

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017, at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Donna Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born on June 15, 1932, in Hinton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank Bennett and Blanche Farley Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Swepston, a son, Kevin Swepston, and eight siblings. She was an active member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, Tri-State Artist Association and Renaissance Gallery. She was the owner and operator of Vogue Beauty Salon for 55 years. She is survived by her daughters, Marsha (Kurt) McAtee of Millersport, Ohio, and Kyra (Michael) McCormill of Florence, Ky; daughter-in-law, Deborah Hinkle Swepston of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Shane Ferrell, Amanda Ferrell and husband Mark Dunlap, Angela Swepston (Mike) Macioce, Heather Walton, Dr. Luke (Rhanda) Damron, Dustin (Kim) McCormill, Jessica (Adam) Stanton and Trey (Elisabeth) Damron; great-grandchildren, Noah, Challen, Halston, Annie, Audrey, Triston, Zoe, Aden, Ellie, Andrew and Carter; a brother, Porter J. (Nancy) Bennett of Hinton, W.Va; special friend, Fern Christian; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and former customers. on August 31, 2017.²

The daughter of the late Charles and Grace Richmond Swepston, she was born August 21, 1931 in Ballengee, WV. Grace Ann was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Bible Church. She enjoyed music and had a natural talent for playing numerous musical instruments for church functions. Notably, she played the marimba at this past Easter church service. Grace Ann had a passion for collecting thimbles from all across the world. She enjoyed playing Mexican train dominoes with friends and family. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dencil Bennett in 1967, a son, Kent Bennett, seven brothers and three sisters. She was the last living member of her immediate family. Grace Ann is survived by a daughter and husband, Rhonda and Eddie Allen, of Bruceton Mills, WV; a daughter and her husband, Carla and Ken Wills, of Madison, GA; grandchildren: Chris Allen and fiance Laura, Shaun Allen and wife Michelle, Amy Sullivan, Heather Bush, and Jason Bennett; two special young fellows; Anderson and Austin, great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Ethan, and Jovie; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 12 noon until the 3 pm service in the funeral home, with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1 pm at the Restwood Memorial Gardens, in Hinton, West Virginia. on May 17, 2017.⁴

     Helen Irene Wickline was buried at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Forest Hill, Summers Co., West Virginia.¹ Her married name was Swepston.¹ She married Frank Hampton Swepston, son of Charles Hampton "Charlie" Swepston and Grace Mae Richmond.¹ Helen Irene Wickline was born on September 13, 1926 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.¹ She died on November 22, 2016 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 90.¹ She Helen Irene Wickline Swepston of Beckley, WV passed away Tuesday November 22, 2016 at the Bowers Hospice House. She was born on September 13, 1926 in Hinton, WV, and was the daughter of the late Ernest Clark and Nellie Townsley Wickline. Helen was employed by G.C. Murphy Company in Hinton and Beckley for more than 20 years. She later served as a volunteer for the Foster Grandparents Program where she spent time reading with and helping elementary students with their school work. The love of her life were her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She greatly missed being able to continue work and drive her car due to health issues. She was an independent individual who exhibited a strong work and moral ethic. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Swepston in 1978. Those left to cherish her memory include her only child, Clark H. Swepston and his wife Sue of Ghent, WV; granddaughters Emilee Payne and husband Michael of Charleston; Andrea Campbell and husband David of Princeton; international granddaughter Olga Semonva Allen and husband Mark stationed in Brussels, Belgium; great grandchildren Elisabeth, Molly, and James Payne; Grace, Sarah, Eli, and Erin Campbell, and Peter Allen; her sister, Betty Frazier of Crab Orchard. According to Mrs. Swepston's personal wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will receive friends at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley from 11AM until 1 PM on Saturday November 26, 2016, with Graveside Rites and Burial to follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at Forest Hill, WV at 2 PM.
