     James Owen Keith was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^3,4 He was born on July 8, 1910 at Mabscott, Raleigh Co., West Virginia; His draft card has a birth date of Jul 5, 1911, and his obituary has Jul 19, 1910.^2,3,5,4 He married Virginia Gertrude Furrow, daughter of William Andrew/Anthony Furrow and Lucy Olive Walters, on August 28, 1936 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^2,4 James Owen Keith died on February 14, 1958 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 47.^3,4 He Funeral services for James Keith, 47, of Crab Orchard will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church by the Rev. Born in Mabscott July 19, 1910, he was the son of the late James and Liza Meadows Keith. Prior to his illness, Keith was employed with the Gulf Mining Company at Crab Orchard. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 4578 of Crab Orchard. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Brethren Church. Survivors include his widow, Virginia Furrow Keith of Crab Orchard; his step-mother, Mrs. Rosie Keith of Mematte, Va; one son, James Jr. serving in the United States Air Force in Florida; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Cantley of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Glen and Arthur Keith of Covington, Va., and Henderson Keith, serving in the U. S. Air Force in Louisiana; five sisters, Mrs. J. B. Houck of Beckley, Mrs. L. C. Reed and Mrs. Emory Gadd of Covington, Mrs. George Smith of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Josie Bowen of North Carolina, and one grandchild. on February 15, 1958.⁴

Jerry worked for many years as a nursing assistant at the Roanoke City Nursing Home. After he retired, he still gave his talents as a caregiver, taking care of his mother and other family members. He is survived by his sister-in-law, June Bowman; nephew, Larry Bowman; his cousins, Robert Barbour, William Barbour (Sharon), Shelby Barbour, Charlie Barbour, Chad Barbour (Charlene), Eddie Barbour, Donna Maloy, Tony Barbour (Elizabeth), Lisa Carr, David Barbour, Stacey Barbour, Tim Barbour, Michael Barbour; and special friends, Wanda and Alan Lambert. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Sherwood Abbey of Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Charles R. Doyle will officiate.
