His condition had been considered critical for the past two weeks. Born Nov. 19, 1892 in Summers county, he was a son of Nathan P. and Josie Leftwich Hedrick and had lived his entired life in the Ballengee community. Hedrick, a retired mail carrier and farmer, was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist church and the Summers County Farm Bureau and took an active part in the affairs of the community as long as health permitted. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ibra Meadows Hedrick; one son, Preston J. Hedrick of Talcott; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Atkins of Lancester, Calif., and Mrs. Kathryn Coiner, Talcott; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Willie McCombs, Alderson; one step-son, Norvin L. Bowyer, Buchannon; one sister, Mrs. John W. Sims, Hinton; and nine grandchildren. Burial will be made in the Oak Grove cemetery. Pallbearers named were Frank Nelson, Vaden Tabor, Howard Wilson, Roy Richmond, Hurchel Lilly, Robert Lindsay, Paul Sims and Wallace Dillon. on February 21, 1959.7 He died on February 21, 1959 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 66.4,5,7

He was born in Wilmore, Ky., on March 5, 1923, and was the son of the late Rev. Robert Lee and Irene Boggs Hall. He was married for more than 66 years to the former Dorothy Doll and was preceded in death by his in-laws, whom he respected, and admired, Lewis and Beulah Doll. His family moved to Pennsylvania in the '30s and he graduated from Mansfield High School in 1941. He attended Mansfield State Teachers College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served under Gen. George Patton in the European theatre in 1944 and 1945, and received battle stars on his theatre campaign ribbon, including Normandy, Brest, Battle of the Bulge, assault crossing of the Rhine River, and Central Europe. Upon discharge he returned to Pennsylvania and continued his education at Wilkes College and Bucknell University. He later attended Suffolk University in Boston. He held degrees in engineering, economics and law and was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association for more than 30 years. He was an invited guest lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Business where he spoke on industrial economics and at Princeton where spoke of developments in the automobile casualty industry before an annual meeting of the New Jersey Bar Association after being introduced by Michael Bloomberg. He worked in the home office of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., in Boston for more than 30 years, and he served as vice president for 15 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Evans Falls United Methodist Church. Surviving beside his wife are several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Orcutts Grove Cemetery, Noxen. on April 17, 2012.3

Parker and wife Ada of Peterstown, W.Va., Dean Parker of Fayetteville, N.C. and William Byrd and wife Linda of Shakopee, Minn; one sister, Martha Miller of Axton, Va; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
