(Paw Paw) Barnhart, 67, of Vinton, Va., passed away Friday, January 7, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert H. Barnhart and Lillie C. Barnhart; and his faithful companion dog, Raz. David was employed for 38 years at Richards Wilbert, Inc., was an avid bowler and fisherman, and a Virginia Tech and William Byrd fan. The joy of his life were his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn L. Barnhart; daughter, Kimberly Lynn Barnhart and her daughter, Madison Anela Morita; daughter, Kerri Barnhart King, her husband, David, and their daughters, Peyton Lillie King and Taylor Kayleigh King; sister, Elsie Neathawk and her daughter, Crystal Neathawk; the loving Poff family; his many special friends at work, the bowling alley, and his fishing buddies. A funeral service will be held noon Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Vinton Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on both Sunday and Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Poff Jr. and wife Pat, Carolyn Poff Barnhart, Cindy Poff, and Ann Marie Lynott; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy was a loving and selfless wife and mother, gracious aunt, beloved cousin, exceptional daughter, and an unrivaled friend. Kathy always put the needs of her family above her own. For 38 years Kathy worked at Arnold & Porter, making lifelong friends including Julie Bell, Janet Rowland, Rene Rickman, Howard Cane, and many others. She grew up in Vinton, VA, in a home filled with love and siblings, and moved to D.C. in 1976. She graduated from William Byrd High School and Virginia Western Community College. Kathy was an avid reader, crime show enthusiast, and amateur political commentator. Her second home was the coast of North Carolina, where part of her heart still lives. Beyond the grave, Kathy is Charlie and Sean's inspiration, role model, and not a day will pass that she is not missed. A gathering will be held at National Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial arrangements are being handled by Arlington National Cemetery, where Kathy will be laid to rest with her loving husband. on June 28, 2018.4

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Leo Doran and Agnes Rose Sullivan, and they are now welcoming him into heaven.Charles graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School where he excelled in sports, especially football. He attended Northwestern University and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Paratroopers during the Vietnam War. In addition to jumping out of planes, he had other "extreme" jobs, which included deep-sea diving off the Gulf Coast. Charles next worked for Melka Marine Construction, where he worked on the DC waterfront and continued diving. For 15 years he was employed at Super Concrete Corporation. He then moved to Dyna Corporation, from which he retired in 2006, when he fell ill. Mass will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, VA 22041 with a graveside service and inurnment to follow at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. on December 23, 2011.4

He spent the day surrounded by loved ones. A United States Navy Veteran, stationed in Florida, he cooked on the USS Penguin and traveled throughout Europe. He married Lois in '62 in Key West; upon returning to Roanoke, he worked as a machinist for NFS Railroad and restored antique cars, a hobby which won him several awards and everlasting friendships. James had a passion for life, a passion for the vehicles he brought back to life, and a passion for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Poff; daughter, Dr. Lucinda Hodges (Roger); son, James Poff (Carrie); sisters, Lois Graybill and Shannie McKee; brothers, Eddie and Ballard Poff; and grandson, Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Lillian Poff; infant son, James Allan; and brothers, Jack and Gene. A Memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Grandview Heights Church of the Nazarene. He was a proud G-Daddy to grandsons, Eric Braxton, Brandon Scott and Ryan Alexander Poff. Also surviving is his brother, Ballard Poff (Trudy); sisters, Lois Graybill (Ralph) and Shannie McKee; sisters-in-law, Lois C. Poff, Betty B. Cowan (Clayton) and Shirley D. Boitnott; brother-in-law, Wayne Boitnott (Nancy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and support. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Vinton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William R. Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.      His Social Security Number was 274-36-8452.3 William Vernon "Billy" Lawfield was born on October 30, 1940 at Steubenville, Jefferson Co., Ohio.3,2 He married Lois Christine Poff, daughter of James Roscoe Poff and Lillian James Howard, on December 1, 1962 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.4,1,2 William Vernon "Billy" Lawfield died on January 26, 2005 at Virginia at age 64.1,3 He William Vernon Lawfield (Billy), 63, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday January 26, 2005. Billy was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy with twenty-three years of service. Prior to his illness, he was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Laura H. Lawfield. Surviving are his devoted wife, Dana K. Lawfield and her children, Michael K. Murphy and his special friend, Courtney Renz and Rhiannon L. Murphy and Rachel Murphy; also Billy's children, William J. Lawfield and special friend, Tammy Wheeler, Taresa Nunn and husband, Dan, and Monica Lawfield and partner, Ann Holbrook, and their mother, Lois Graybill; and two sisters, Patricia VanHorn and Lorretta Dyer and their spouses. Mr. Lawfield will be greatly missed by his in-laws, Glenn and Gay Keith, his six grandchildren and all additional family members not mentioned. A special thanks to all who cared for him at Lewis Gale MIC unit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Art Hearne will officiate. Military honors will be by the U. S. Navy.
