Lila Bell Knox Lila Buss, 90 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeff Ralston and Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Lila Bell (Knox) Buss was born on December 19, 1929 in Edith, Oklahoma to Clarence Edward and Lottie Mary (Dixon) Knox. She grew up in Freedom and graduated from Freedom High School. Lila was united in marriage to Marvin Lemuel Buss on January 6, 1948 at the Buffalo Baptist Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Buffalo and to this union they were blessed with four children, Kathy June, Debra Diane, Marvin Eugene, and Tina Marie. Lila and Marvin met at a dance and danced all of their lives. They enjoyed times with friends - old and new. Family time was the most important to them. The family lived in numerous places all over Kansas but moved back to Oklahoma in 1988. After Marvin died in 2010, Lila continued working until she was 88 years old. Her last job was at Carlitos Cafe. She enjoyed reading, puzzling, games and anything with her family. She also went to the gym three times a week until October of 2019. Lila loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Kathy Mason and husband Greg of Halstead, Kansas, Debbie Buss and Lance Culver of Hutchinson, Kansas, Tina Whitworth and husband Carl of Woodward; children adopted by the heart: Jimmy and Cindy Hanke of Newton, Kansas; grandchildren: Larry Oviatt, Darcy Oviatt, Shandi Schwind and Murray, Angela Flory and JD, Amy Medina and Alex, Tonya Bradshaw, Nathan Porter and Cassie, Rob Roach and Ginger, Austin Whitworth and Peyton, Karlie Whitworth and Jake Moore; grandson by choice, Cole Parker; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Knox and wife Delores of Oregon; one sister Bonnie Wares and husband Wayne of Freedom; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ruby Jordan and husband Royce of Buffalo, Bob Buss and wife Ramona of Woodward; other relatives and friends. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin L. Buss, son, Marvin E. Buss in 1995, one brother Leon Knox and best friend and sister-in-law, Alice Buss.2 She was buried at High Point Cemetery, Buffalo, Harper Co., Oklahoma.4 She was born on December 19, 1929 at Edith, Woods Co., Oklahoma.2 As of January 6, 1948,her married name was Buss.1 She married Marvin Lemuel Buss, son of Dick Etley Buss and Vera Olga Snider, on January 6, 1948 at Buffalo, Harper Co., Oklahoma.1,2,3 Lila Bell Knox died on July 7, 2020 at Woodward, Woodward Co., Oklahoma, at age 90.2

The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at 871 Road T, Hartford. Mr. Turner was born to Gerald and Jackie Buss Turner on Feb. 16, 1961, in Emporia. He grew up in Kansas City, Kan., and graduated from J.C. Harmon High School in 1969. He attended Metropolitan Nazarene Church in Kansas City, Kan. He returned to Lyon County in 1979, and married Janell Couch on Nov. 20, 1982, in Emporia. She survives. Mr. Turner was a meal load-out operator for Bunge North America. In addition to his wife, his survivors include two sons, Jerritt Turner and Jordan Turner, both of Hartford; two daughters, Heather Estes of Emporia and Nicole Pierce of Kansas City, Kan; his mother of Kansas City, Kan; a brother, Jason Turner of Kansas City, Kan; two sisters, Kimbila Mika of Raytown, Mo., and Jatonia Ziegler of Kansas City, Mo; and two grandchildren. His father died earlier. (Gary died in a hunting accident) on December 14, 2002.2
