Funeral service, 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, Montgomery & Steward Chapel, with Pastor Darron Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. on July 23, 2007.3

Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Michael Hurst; and a stepgrandson, Scott Newton. Marilyn was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge and loved and enjoyed her family. on January 17, 2016.4

He was a master plumber, and owner of Hurst Plumbing, Hurst excavating and Hurst Holding Company with his twin brother, Richard. Survived by: two daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Willoughby of Richmond Hill‚ Ga., and Sandra Alexander of Waterloo; three sons, James (Deborah) Hurst of Denver‚ Brett (Kim) Hurst of Waterloo and Steven (Lori) Hurst of Renwick; 10 grandchildren, Sean Hurst, Cody Hurst, Dane Hurst, Michael Willoughby, Ryan Willoughby, Sara Don Willoughby, Stefan Hurst, Christian Hurst, Crystal Stone and Pearl Alexander; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Wesley Hurst of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Colleen (Harold) Brown of Waterloo. Preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Michael Hurst; twin brother and his business partner of over 60 years, Richard; and a sister, Norma Kirkland. Inurnment to take place in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Don was an excellent tennis player for most of his life. He was also a nationally renowned antiques collector. on September 18, 2019.3

Gary Reif, pastor, officiating. Mr. Hurst was killed about 3 p.m. Thursday when a ditch he was working on in Evansdale caved in. At the time, he was working for the Hurst Excavating Co., owned by his father, which was laying water line in the 500 block of Evans Road. Mr. Hurst was born Sept. 30, 1951 in Waterloo, son of Donald and Marilyn King Hurst. He was graduated from West High School in 1969 and was preparing to begin his junior year at the University of Northern Iowa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his father, Donald Hurst of 2425 W. 4th St., his mother, Mrs. Marilyn Wentworth of 303 Vermont, a sister, Cheryl Hurst of 303 Vermont, a half sister, Sandra Hurst of 2425 W. 4th St., three half-brothers, James, Brett, and Steven Hurst of 2425 W. 4th St., two step sisters, Mrs. Cinda Webber of 708 Colorado and Danita Wentworth of 303 Vermont, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. 0. King of Meadows of Dan, Va., and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hurst of 533 Lime St. on August 27, 1971.2

Survivors include: his wife; a son, Dennis (Karen) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Joyce Newton of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Cheryl (Tom) Willoughby of Savannah, Ga; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a grandson, Scott Newton; a stepson, Michael Hurst; a son-in-law, Ken Newton; three brothers, George, Gorman and Gladon; and a sister, Gavetta Cummings. Burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Glenden enjoyed traveling, playing cards and getting together with friends and family. He especially adored his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. on January 25, 2008.2
