Octa worked at McCleary Elementary for many years in the cafeteria. She was a member of New Castle Christian Church, while in Craig County and attended Moores Chapel in Shawsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Nolen; son, Jerry Elmore; sisters, Mabel Rutherford, and Oveta Cromer. She is survived by daughter, Lynn E. Foutz; grandchildren, Lester Foutz, Jr. and wife, Deanna, Charlie Elmore, Sherry Foutz and fiancé, Mitchell Paul; great-grandchildren, Jacob Foutz, Josh Mills, and Maria Foutz, Chelsea, Blake, and Olivia Elmore; and many special nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Richfield Retirement 3 East and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Paitsel Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. on May 18, 2015.3

Mrs. Sumpter was a retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. She was an active member of Braggtown Baptist Church. Mrs. Sumpter is survived by her daughter, Roberta S. Riley (Tim); sister, Kitty Kirk; brother, Jerry Hash (Barbara); sisters-in-law, Verna Hash and JoAnn Hash; and many nieces and nephews.      Charlene Ann Davis Charlene Furrow, 73, Minot, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in a Minot hospital with her loving husband at her side. She had been struggling with diabetes and cancer for the past several years. Charlene Ann Davis was born on January 7, 1950 in Fort Totten, ND to Saul and Margaret (Jones) Davis. She was raised and educated in Minot and attended Minot State University for two years. As a young adult she was employed at a local dry-cleaning establishment and at Sykes. Charlene married Barry Furrow on December 25, 1988 at Minot Air Force Base. They made their home at MAFB and Charlene was employed at the North Dakota Department of Human Services as a mental health counselor. She retired in 1997. Charlene had attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed playing pool, collecting teddy bears from most states and caring for her pets. Charlene is survived by her husband of 34 years Barry; children: Vincent, Tony and Linda; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several step siblings. A committal service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933 and the United States Army.
