She didn't achieve her end goal of dying at the end of the Krispy Kreme conveyor belt while fresh glazed donuts fell into her mouth. Frances did, however, lead an accomplished life! Frances was born on November 6, 1953, in Roanoke, Va., to Mary Lynn Yeary Murrie and James Edward Murrie. She grew up in Copper Hill, Va., and graduated from Floyd County High School in 1972. Frances then went on to graduate from Virginia Western Community College in 1974 and earned a BS in Nursing from Radford University in 1978. As a newly graduated nurse, she was hired by Roanoke Hospital Association (now Carilion Clinic) on June 12, 1978, for the job she had always wanted. Her love for nursing developed from a neighbor/close family friend, Clarice "Ma" Reed, who was a lifelong nurse. During her nursing career, Frances mainly worked at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, though she did work at other Carilion hospitals through the years as well. Frances was one of the first Flight Nurses with the LifeGuard 10 helicopter. She worked on several different floors, intensive care units, and in the emergency department. At the time of her retirement, she was working in one of the new Riverside buildings. Frances was a lifetime member of the Bent Mountain Rescue Squad and Fire Department. She volunteered many hours with these organizations. She was also an active member of Lawrence Memorial United Methodist Church on Bent Mountain since childhood. Frances, also known as Fluff or Fluffy, was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her sister, Deborah Finney; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anna Murrie; nephew, Neal Finney and wife, Elizabeth; nieces, Michelle Milinazzo, Kelli Murrie, and Allison Murrie; and great-niece and nephew, Lillianna and Gideon Finney. Frances is also survived by many, many wonderful friends! On November 28, 2003.2 She died on November 26, 2023 at Virginia at age 70.2
