He loved his family and enjoyed taking them on vacations. He was a member of the Elliston Church of God for many years and helped build the current church in Elliston. He was also a Superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and served on the building committee. He was also blessed by Pastors Ronnie Duncan and Eddie Booth in Elliston, Virginia. He is survived by his brother Luther Woolwine and his wife Blondene; his daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Crockett, her husband Russell; two sons, Charles (Chuck) Woolwine and his wife Karen, and Timothy (Tim) Woolwine. Grandchildren include Angela Dawn, Cody, Andrew and Ryleigh Woolwine and one great-grandchild Lane Dehaven Woolwine. He had many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law that he loved dearly. Leroy worked for Noland Company for 45 years until he retired. He was a kind, gentle, and personable man to everyone he met. He was also known for his generosity and caring in the community and his business contacts. He was always helping others in any way that he could. Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. on March 13, 2024.6

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Ray Woolwine, David Michael Woolwine, and Joseph Leroy Woolwine; sister-in-law, Patricia Wells Woolwine; and brother-in-law, Paul Edward Hollandsworth. Luther was employed by the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (Arsenal) for 38 years. Luther worked tirelessly for his fellow employees to improve working conditions. Those who worked with him showed their respect by allowing Luther to represent them. He served as a union steward on the shop floor in the late 1960's and early 70's. In the mid 70's Luther decided to take on additional leadership responsibilities. For 12 consecutive two-year terms, Luther was elected by his fellow workers as a Committeeman (six terms), Vice President (three terms), and eventually served three terms as their president. Luther retired from the Arsenal in 2004 but was still active in helping fellow retirees and former Arsenal workers with the benefits to which they worked and were entitled until the onset of his illness. Luther is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Blondene Hollandsworth Woolwine. Luther is also survived by his daughter, Marie Rorrer (Mike); son Eddie Woolwine (Suzanne); grandchildren, Ashley Apjok (Scott), Kelsey Woolwine, McKinley Rorrer, Ryan Woolwine (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Maggie and Lucas Apjok; sisters-in-law, Shirley Woolwine, Bonnie Woolwine, Maxine Woolwine, Bonnie Smith (Lewis), Sandra Altizer (Fred), and Linda Hollandsworth; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on March 24, 2024.8

Mike loved being a husband, dad, and paw paw. He loved us and everyone he met so much. He was a supportive and loving husband, father, brother, paw paw, and friend. Anyone who knew Mike knew he loved his Virginia Tech Hokies and helping anyone in need. If you knew him, you knew what an honor it was to be in his presence. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. Patricia Ann Wells died on November 15, 2021 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 86.2 She Patricia Wells Woolwine, age 86, of Shawsville, Va., went to her heavenly home on Monday, November 15, 2021. She was born in Amigo, W.Va. on August 30, 1935 to the late Charlie and Maude Wells. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William (Buddy) Wells; sister, Martha (Janabee) Wells Carper; grandson, Bryan Woolwine. Patricia was a graduate of Stoco High School, class of 1953 in Coal City, W.Va. She played the trumpet in the band for four years. She loved her family and enjoyed going to church, singing specials, and playing her trumpet with her daughter, Cindy Crockett. She was a member of the Elliston Church of God for many years, and was also blessed by Pastors, Eddie and Sandra Booth of Moores Chapel Baptist Church. Patricia worked at Green Hill Meat Packing Company for three years and retired from Meadowbrook Nursing Home in 1996 after 18 years of housekeeping service. Patricia is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leroy Woolwine; daughter, Cindy Crockett and husband, Russ; sons, Chuck Woolwine and wife, Karen, Tim Woolwine and wife, Robin; grandsons, Andy and Cody Woolwine; granddaughters; Dawn and Ryleigh Woolwine; sisters, Donna Ratcliff and JoEllen McDaniel of Shawsville; brother, James (Piggy) Wells of Ironto. on November 17, 2021.2
