Letha was the daughter of the late Jack and Roxie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chapman Vass Jr. in 2008; a grand baby, Megan Elizabeth McDaniel; and a sister, Mae Smith. Letha was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church of Gum Springs and a homemaker. She is survived by three daughters, Wendy Naye, Pamela Clay and Steven, Debbie McDaniel and Dennis all of Oak Hill; two sons, Floyd Vass of Harvey, Terry and Heather Vass of Victor; eight grandchildren; Heath Ryan Naye, Kacie Clay, Kandice Clay, Justin McDaniel, Kelly McDaniel, Kerry McDaniel, Noah Vass, Nathan Vass. She will be cremated after the service. on December 4, 2014.4

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Connie Shumate and her husband, Wayne, of Princeton and Mary Ann Taylor and her husband, Eric, of Barkers Ridge; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Hardy of Mullens; six sons, Kenneth Hardy and his wife, Barbara, of Amigo, Albert Hardy and his wife, Jennifer, of North Carolina, Steve Hardy and his wife, Andrea, of Mullens, James Hardy and his wife, Robin, of Beaver, Virgil Hardy and his wife, Vinita, of Rhodell, and John Hardy and his wife, Marlena, of Beckley; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosie Mills of Peterstown, Louise Bishop and her husband, Willie, of Bradley, and Lorene Jones and her husband, Clinton, of Edmond; and one brother, Billy Smith of Kincaid. Burial will follow in the Milam Cemetery, Sand Gap. Sons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Manning and David Lane who were like her sons. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Tracy Lane for the care she gave to Mrs. Hardy. on July 16, 2010.3

He was a retired furniture store employee and a member of Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle. Surviving: son, Robert Glen of Zanesville, Ohio; daughter, Minnie Arthur of Ridgeville, Ohio, Ruth D. Williams of Oak Hill; brothers, George and Herman, both of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. on January 9, 1990.2
