Roy preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by her brother, William (Cleo) Kingrea of Elkton, VA, her step sister June Iddings of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her children, Elizabeth (Thomas) Cooper of New Carlisle, OH, David (Gabriela) Dorsett of Winston Salem, NC, and Daniel Dorsett of Salisbury, NC, 4 grandchildren; Stephen (Victoria) Cooper, Bethany Hodge, Bekah (Chris) Denton and Brittany (Alex) Johnson. She also had the joy of having 7 great grandchildren; Isaiah, Cooper, Allie, Collin, Kinley, Harrison and Genesis, as well as 1 nephew, Steve, and 2 nieces Vickie (Frank) Waldrop and Debbie (David) Green. Roy Allen Dorsett, 67, of Hobe Sound, Fla., died on Dec. 12 at 7:01 a.m. at the Sea Breeze Manor in Hobe Sound. He moved to Hobe Sound, Fla., in September of 1996 from West Terre Haute, Ind. Born Jan. 2, 1934, in High Point, N.C., he was the son of Troy Lee and Queen Esther (Cranford) Dorsett, both deceased. He married Nancy Allen Kingrea of Christianburg, Va., on June 1, 1956. She survives in Hobe Sound, Fla. The Rev. Dorsett graduated in 1952 from high school at Pilgrim Bible College in Kemersville, N.C. He also attended Frankfort Pilgrim College in Frankfort, Ind. He received his college education at Southern Pilgrim College in Kemersville, N.C., where he graduated in 1969 with a bachelor's degree. In 1994 he received a master's degree in sacred literature from the Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburgh, Ind. He pastored for 40 years in Pilgrim Holiness and Wesleyan churches serving in Cape Charles, Va; Greensboro, Md; Grand Gorge, N.Y; Proton Station, Ontario, Canada; Rosana, Dela; Harker's Island, N.C; Snow Camp (Bethelehem), N.C; Dayton (Pleasant Valley), Ohio: Madison (Concord), Ind; Bloomfield (Sylvania), Ind; Martinsville, Ind; and West Terre Haute, Ind. In addition to his many years of pastoring, he taught Adult Education Classes in art for many years throughout several states. He taught six years at God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and eight years at Union Bible College in Westfield, Ind. He was a chalk artist making several short term mission trips with his artwork. He was a musician and singer and used his varied talents to further the work of the Lord. His greatest love was people. He also enjoyed collecting model railroad trains. Other survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Cooper of New Carlisle, Ohio; two sons, David Dorsett of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Daniel Dorsett of N.C; one brother, Ralph Dorsett of Kemersville, N.C; four grandchildren, Stephen, Bethany and Rebekah Cooper and Brittany Dorsett. One brother, Arthur Ray Dorsett, died in infancy. The graveside service and burial will be at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton, Va. on December 14, 2001.1

Russell Edward Swanigan Russell Edward Swanigan, age 85, of Rootstown, Ohio, passed away April 26, 2022 in hospice care due to heart problems. He was born March 2, 1937, in Fayetteville County, West Virginia, the only child of the late Galen and Elva (Wilson) Swanigan. Russell married Avalon Rae Lott on July 4, 1959. They were married for 57 years and he would say that the whole country celebrated their anniversary without realizing it. They had 2 children, Cheryl A. Swanigan and Jeff A. Swanigan. Russell worked for Continental General Tire North America for 35 years before retiring in 1996. He had a passion for older vehicles, restoring some with his "backyard mechanic" abilities. He was also a deeply spiritual person and a member of Liberty Bible Church in Atwater, Ohio. Russell was preceded in by his late wife, Avalon. He is survived by daughter Cheryl A. Swanigan and son Jeff A. Swanigan; grandchildren Krissina Bair, Noah Swanigan and Sarah Schneider; and 4 great-grandchildren. Private inurnment will be held at Limaville-Lexington Cemetery.4 He was buried at Limaville Cemetery, Lexington Township, Stark Co., Ohio. Avalon Rae Lott Avalon Rae (Lott) Swanigan, age 84, of Rootstown, passed away May 29, 2017, at the Altercare Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center in Brimfield, Ohio, after a long series of illnesses. She was born October 26, 1932, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the eldest daughter of the late Albert and Reva (Owens) Lott. Avalon, also known as Rae by family and family friends, worked at Goodyear Aerospace for a short time before she married Russell Edward Swanigan on July 4, 1959. Russell would say that the whole country celebrated their anniversaries each year without realizing it. Avalon and Russell were married for 57 years. She chose to stay at home and raise their 2 children, Cheryl Swanigan and Jeff Swanigan. She was a deeply spiritual person and member of Liberty Bible Church. She was a former member of the Atwater First Baptist Church and was very active in ministries at the church. To the Atwater Christian School children she was known as the "bulletin board lady" as she maintained the church and school's bulletin boards. She even found her artistic side at Atwater by working with flower arrangements, church and wedding reception decorating. However, two of her favorite ministries were being a Sunday School teacher and singing soprano in the church choir for over 20 plus years in the various churches she attended. She was also an avid book reader. Avalon is survived by her husband, Russell E. Swanigan, daughter Cheryl A. Swanigan and son Jeff A. Swanigan; grandchildren Krissina Bair, Noah Swanigan and Sarah Schneider; and great-grandchildren Ian, Embry and Body. She is survived by her sister Donna (Raybuck) Ritenour of Florida and step-mother Louise (Lott) Doig of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Reva Lott and her brother, Paul Lott.
