Mr. Early, 63, of Goose Creek, SC died Friday February 25 at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Julian started his teaching career in Hemmingway, SC in 1971. He returned to the University of South Carolina to earn his Master's of Music Education. He was the band director at Holly Hill Middle School and Holly Hill-Roberts High school in Orangeburg School District 3 from 1976 to 1998. He taught band in Greenville County at Eastside High School and Greenville Middle School from 1998 to 2002, at which time he retired and moved back to the Charleston area to manage the Charleston branch of Pecknel music. He left Pecknel in 2008 and was working as a substitute teacher in the Berkeley county schools at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Susan DeLong Early of Goose Creek, his sister Susan F. Early of Bristol Tennessee, sister Jane Early Powell of Athens, Ga., brother Stephen Early of Charlottesville, VA, six nephews and four nieces. on March 13, 2011.7

He was born on May 1, 1939 in Roanoke, to Kermit W. and Gladys Beard Plymale. He graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1958 and attended Roanoke College for a short time. He later joined the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank Staff Sergeant. Mr. Plymale worked in his father's business, Virginia Brokerage Company, until he left and worked in the material handling field. He later opened his own business, Apex Industrial Equipment, where he and his family worked together for thirty years. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Salem where he served in many capacities over the years. He was active in teaching Disciple study groups, participated in Emmaus walks and was a team leader with the Kairos Prison Ministries in Chatham. He was also a member of the Salem Kiwanis Club, where he served as president from 2010-2011. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time at the lake where he taught his sons, and nieces and nephews how to water ski. Mr. Plymale is survived by his wife, Gwen Dean Plymale; sons, W. Leigh Plymale Jr. and his wife Dawn of Salem, and Dean P. Plymale and his wife Victoria of Covington, La. He is also survived by his grandsons, Nicholas I. and Nathan D. Plymale; a sister, Joyce P. Murray; nieces, Kathy Minnick and Ellen Wentzel; nephews, Mark Minnick and Jeff Minnick, and their families. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Salem. The Reverends Jeffrey L. Dorsey and Stephen G. Bray will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church Music Fund, 125 West Main St. Salem, VA 24153. on January 26, 2014.2

He saw many a race and loved every minute of it. Later in his life, his passion became bluegrass music. Steve could frequently be found pickin' and grinnin' on his porch swing waiting for his grandchildren to come over and sing Old MacDonald. He also had a band, "The Sourwood Mountain Boys". They played "gigs" at the local nursing homes and the VA. His favorite songs were, Will the Circle be Unbroken, Greenville Trestle High and Jimmy Brown the Newsboy. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2016 at The Roanoke Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Steve's honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675. on August 28, 2016.4
