He was secretary-treasurer of United Construction Workers Local No. 153 of the Celanese Corp. of America, Narrows, Va., and had been employed by Celanese the past 10 years. Additional survivors include his wife, Bertie Meadows Kirk; three daughters, Mrs. R. V. Robertson, Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Gurney Reid, Anderson, S. C., and Miss Shirley Kirk, at home; a son, Homer Jr., of Dunbar; another brother and sister, L. A. Kirk of Matewan and Mrs. J. R. Bruce of Tacoma, Va; and two granddaughters. on January 3, 1954.1

Homer Jackson Kirk Jr., U.S. Army, formerly of Rich Creek, was killed Friday in an automobile accident in Mainz, Germany. According to reports received Saturday, Sgt. Kirk was en route to the naval shipyard to deliver his car to be returned to the United States when the accident occurred. Kirk had just completed two and-a-half years with the US. Army, in Germany and he, along his wife and two children, were being returned to the United States. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Joyce Wilkerson Kirk, a son, Michael Jackson Kirk; a daughter, Kimberly Jean Kirk; his mother, Mrs. Bertie M. Kirk, Glen Lyn; three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Beauford of Abbeville, S.C; Mrs. Mary Jane Reid, Seneca, S.C; Mrs. Norma Jean Robertson, Petersburg. on July 23, 1963.5

Funeral services will be held from the graveside Saturday at Oconee Memorial Park. on November 12, 2005.4
