Barbara Jean Fisher Doyle, 88, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Charlotte Fisher; grandson, Tony Thompson; brothers, Jesse and Raymond Fisher; and sister, Lillian Bott. Her surviving family includes her husband, Sam Harold Doyle; first husband, Theodore Blankenship; four children, Shirley Thompson (Billy), William Blankenship, Ted Blankenship (Donna), and Dianna Stanley; eight grandchildren, Bryan Blankenship, Kelly Cook, Melissa Meade, Bill Thompson, Josh Blankenship, Amanda Casteriana, Zachary Stanley, and Celia Williams; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers; and two sisters. Anna attended Lee Street Memorial Baptist Church, Baltimore, for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by a son, Jerry E. Dewese and his wife, Betty J. of White Hall, Md; grandchildren, Sara B. Dewese and Matthew L. Dewese. He was a retired carman with 40 years of service with the Norfolk & Western Railway. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and Princeton Moose Lodge 1521. He was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Green Valley. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Thompson. Survivors: wife, Evelyn Ruth Sifford Thompson; son, Ray Thompson of Elgood; daughters, Billie G.      Billie Gray Thompson was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² She Billie Gray Thompson Sox, 85, of Princeton, died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Princeton Health Care Center. Born March 17, 1936 in Princeton she was the daughter of the late Lamar Paul Thompson and Thelma DeWeese Mitchell. Billie was a flag car diver for Mary's Flag Car Service and was a waitress in various restaurants. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Compton; and one brother, Ray Thornton. She is survived by one son, Russell Lamar "Rusty" Sox and wife Diana of Brilliant, OH; three grandchildren, Jared Sox, Samantha Sox, and Brittany Sparringer; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Rose Sox and Brooke Sox; one brother, Jimmy Mitchell of Orlando, FL; and two sisters, Penny Dobbins and husband John of Manassas, VA, and Carolyn Butler and husband John of Radford, VA. Mary always loved and took great pride in her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting yard sales and spending time with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Luther Compton; infant son, Kevin Lamar Compton; and half brother, Charles Mitchell. She is survived by four sons, James "Jimmy" Compton and his wife Melissa of Princeton, Timothy Wade "Timmy" Compton and his wife Penny of Florence, S.C., Clinton Woodrow "Woody" Compton and his wife Angie of Princeton, and Keith Thomas Compton of Princeton; seven grandchildren; one brother, Ray Thompson of Elgood; one sister, Billie Sox of Princeton; two half sisters, Carolyn Butler of Radford, Va., and Penny Dobbins of Gainesville, Va; and one half brother, James Mitchell of Orlando, Fla. Born Feb. 14, 1937, in Matoaka, he was the son of the late Walter Ralph and Madge Lila Johnston Compton. He and his wife Mary were the owners and operators of Mary’s Flag Car Service in Princeton. He was a member of the Kee Street United Methodist Church in Princeton. He was a member of the Princeton Moose Lodge #1520 and an associate member of the Princeton Fraternal Order of Police. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, one son, Kevin Lamar Compton, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Thompson Compton of Princeton; four sons, James Ralph "Jimmy" Compton, Clinton W. "Woody" Compton, Keith Thomas Compton and wife, Alice, all of Princeton, and Timothy W. "Timmy" Compton and wife, Penny of Florence, S.C; three grandchildren, Christopher W. Compton, Arron E. Compton, and Kevin T. Compton; and his mother-in-law, Thelma G. Mitchell of Princeton. Burial will follow at Oakwood Park Cemetery in Princeton where Sandy River District American Legion Post #175 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Steve Thompson, Timmy Meadows, Kevin Hogan, Scottie Blankenship, Terry Moulder, and Jeff Thompson. on May 17, 2001.⁸
