Born Sunday, February 19, 1933 in Floyd County, VA, William was a son of the late Maynard Hale and the late Gladys Underwood Hale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in-law, Randall Bryant, Brother Robert Jones, Two Sisters Roxy Spruce and Ruby Hale Spruce. In addition to his wife, William is survived by his daughter Mary Bryant, Fiancé Richard Roche, daughter Melinda Hale, son William Hale Jr., and his nine grand-kids, John Wise and husband, Bradley Wise, Justin Wise and wife, Ashley Wise, Deanna Seamster and husband, Cody Seamster, Randi Langley and husband, Marshall Langley, Jessica Weeks, Emily Fennell and husband JJ Fennell, Josef Bryant, Ryann Bryant, Raven Hale, and Two great-grandsons Rylan Seamster and Liam Wise. William was one of a kind, a beacon from an all but forgotten era. He was a man of determination, wisdom, unwavering faith in the Lord, and whose love for his family was all encompassing. He wasn't afraid of hard work and after a lifetime of pushing past life's obstacles he spent his later years doing what he loved. Fishing, hunting, and being stubborn, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather that everyone knew, loved, and will truly miss. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris of 51 years who was the love of his life. He leaves behind a legacy through his family and his close personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Andy was a loving father to his four children, Marie Rowland and husband, David, of Lynchburg, Janet Dawson and husband, Joe, of Evans, Ga., Sharon May and husband, Larry, of Goode, and Jason Hale and wife, Melissa of Lynchburg. He was the best Papa in the world to his eight grandchildren, Amber, Landon, Brittany, Ashton, Korey, Kolby, Kortlyn , Emily and his 13 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful love and care that was given to Andy by these loving ladies: Alex Gadsby, Shirley Morris, Jennifer Wood, Michelle Cartlett, Tammy Hamlett and also a special thank you to Centra Hospice. on March 8, 2023.⁷

     Doris Marie Staton On Friday, November 18, 2022, heaven gained an angel, Doris Staton Hale, of Lynchburg. She was the loving wife of Andrew “Andy” Hale for 51 years. Doris was a devoted, caring, and faithful to all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her precious little great granddaughter, Lily Skye, with whom we know she is loving on and rocking. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Marie Rowland and her husband, David, Janet Dawson and her husband, Joey, Sharon May and her husband, Larry, Andrew “Jason” Hale and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Amber, Landon, Brittany, Ashton, Korey, Kolby, Kortlyn and Emily; and 12 great-grandchildren.³ She was born on June 24, 1942 at Lynchburg, Virginia.^1,2 As of August 18, 1973,her married name was Hale.¹ She married Andrew Jackson Hale, son of Posey Maynard Hale and Gladys Marie Underwood, on August 18, 1973 at Lynchburg, Virginia.^1,3 Doris Marie Staton died on November 18, 2022 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 80.³
