He served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger and Paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Predeceased by his parents, Ken is survived by his loving wife Carolyn (Hackett), Columbus and children Eric M. Besecker (Lisa), Petersburg, KY, Lynn (Griffin) Clouse, Centerville, Edward J. Griffin, Jr. (Mary), Springfield and Lisa Griffin, Columbus; and seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Formerly of Springfield, Ohio where he began his career at Ohio Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T), Ken retired from the company in Columbus after 30 years of service. Ken was an avid golfer, and upon retirement he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Longboat Key, Florida. Ken so loved his wife Carolyn, and he loved his children of whom he was completely supportive in all of their endeavors. He will be greatly missed by his family.      Connie M. Hedgecock Connie M. McConnell, 71, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in her residence. She was born March 10, 1939 in Springfield, OH, the daughter of Gerald and Dorthene (Kimmel) Hedgecock. Connie was employed several places throughout her lifetime. She especially enjoyed working at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana. Connie was a volunteer at Mercy McAuley Center and for the Champaign County Cancer Association. She enjoyed flower gardening, bargain hunting, crafts and walking her dog "Maggie." She is survived by her husband, of 45 years, William McConnell; her daughters Shawn (Tom) Holland of Urbana and Kelly (Vern) Reif of Mechanicsburg; her grandchildren Greg, Stephanie, Julie, Chelsey, Lee, Mitch, Jack, Dorian, Aleia and Haley; her sisters Jean (Don) Greiner, June (Carl) Conner; several nieces and nephews. On November 6, 1964, she married Carl (K.P.) Kelley. Diane is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Sherry Smith, Frankfort, KY and Charlene and Scott Abernathy, Covington, OH; one sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Larry Herron, Piqua; two brothers and sister-in-law: James and Esther Dyke, New Carlisle and Terry Dyke, Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren: Josh Hitchcock, Covington, OH, Chad Kelley, Pleasant Hill, OH, Diana Smith, Frankfort, KY, Harley Smith, Frankfort, KY and eight great grandchildren: Aiden Kelley, Tryston Kelley, Hailey Hitchcock, Kent Hitchcock, Kinsley Hitchcock, CathLynn Smith, Cheyanne Smith, Jaylee Smith. Diane graduated from Piqua Catholic High School. She was a member of Covington Am Vets Post #66, Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles #3998, Covington. Diane was a loving homemaker. For the past eight years Diane worked at Remax Finest in Piqua.
