Mrs. Fry graduated from Momence, Ill., High School with the class of 1926. She graduated from nursing school in Kankakee, Ill. She worked at Central Community Hospital in Chicago, Ill., where she was a night supervisor for 18 years. She had lived in Fairfield since 1964 and had lived with her daughter and family in Lockridge since 1997. She was a member of Rebeka Lodge No. 96 and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Sue Ann Diers and husband Leland of Lockridge; one son, Edgar Fry and wife Juanita of Sun City, Ariz; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Gray; and one sister, Mable Pruett. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two children in infancy; three brothers, Bill, Edgar and John Gray; and one sister, Ann McDonald. on February 16, 2004.3

Walter was a member of the Wheaton VFW Post @#2164 and a member of the Wheaton- Glen Ellyn Elks Lodge @#2258 of which he was a past Exalted Ruler, served as trustee and a member of the Waputi Lodge. He volunteered many hours to raise monies for the Elks to benefit crippled children. Walter also enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his beloved wife, Fern J. Gray of West Chicago; loving children, John (Carol) Gray of Hanover Park, Wanda (Chris) Leighton of West Chicago, Walter C. Jr. of Houston and Shanda Gray (Norman Lahti) of Roselle; his grandchild, John A Race; and his sister, Mabel (Lawson) Pruett of Bedford, Ind. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Elks Lodge @#2258, Crippled Children, 0N674 Papworth Road, Wheaton, IL 60187. on July 14, 2004.4
