     Roger Lee Mowery was born on May 4, 1942 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.2 He married Tanis Christine Neal, daughter of Ira Garfield Neal Jr. and Virginia Louise Duell, on June 24, 1967 at Newport News, Virginia.1,3 Roger Lee Mowery died on February 12, 2016 at Hampton, Virginia, at age 73.2 He Roger Lee Mowery, known as Pop to many, passed on Feb. 12th 2016. Roger was born in Toledo Ohio to Thomas and La-vonne Mowery on May 4, 1942. He attended Bedford High School and upon graduation joined the United States Navy in 1960, where he served most of his career as a Submariner. Roger served proudly for 20 years and retired as Master Chief in 1981. Upon retiring, Roger moved to Midland Ml where he worked for Consumer Power Nuclear Plant. Upon the plant closing, Roger and his family moved to Hampton VA where he began his second career at the Newport News Shipyard and worked until his retirement in 2004. Roger was known to many as a loving Husband, Father and Pop, a Monarch for the Family, true friend, mentor and volunteer. Roger helped with the Hampton C.E.R.T team, volunteered as an EMT and worked with the Peninsula Bird Club association. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Tanis, whom he loved dearly. His 4 siblings Terry, Mar-lene, Tom and Todd. He is also survived by his sons, Raymond and Kim Mowery, and Thomas and Heather Mowery. Roger also leaves behind his 5 grandchildren that he adored, Megan, Travis, Joshua, Gabrielle and Ryan. Roger leaves behind his 2 great grandchildren, Leland and Kylie, his beloved Macaw Pongo and his puppies Grainger and Freckles. on February 14, 2016.2

She is survived by her husband, Thomas (TC), son, Joshua, and daughter, Gabrielle; her parents, Linda Estes Kerlin; Edward Kerlin and wife, Terry; her grandmother, Louise Estes; her beloved brother, Jonathon Kerlin; her loving sisters, Patricia Pereira and husband, Mark, and Amanda Benson and husband, Gary; her dearly loved niece and nephews, Megan and Travis Mowery , Jeremy Kerlin and Andrew Benson, Marlin and Patrick Pereira; her mother and father-in-law, Roger and Tanis Mowery; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her beloved puppies, Allie and Elvis. Burial following in Parklawn Memorial Park. on November 11, 2005.2
