"Mickey" Hoyle, 73, of Asheville died Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Brian Center in Hendersonville after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Asheville. He loved this community where he helped build the family business, Hoyle Office Solutions, and raised his family. Mickey graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1957 and was an outstanding basketball player. After attending Wake Forest University, Mickey spent time in the US Army Reserve at Ft Sill, OK Upon his return from the Army, Mickey graduated from Mars Hill College in 1964 with a business degree. During that time, he was a star basketball player who in 2010 was honored and inducted into the Mars Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame. Mickey was an avid golfer and long time member of The Country Club of Asheville. It was here that some of his most cherished friendships were formed. Those friendships carried him throughout his life and were instrumental in providing him strength through his cancer fight Along with his passion for golf, Mickey equally loved shag dancing and was a proud member of the Carolina Shag Club and the Mountain Shag dub. Mickey is survived by his parents, J.W. "Red" and Christine G. Hoyle; his son, Rick Hoyle (Paula) and their children, Evan and Emerson Hoyle; his daughter, Kelly H. Owensby (Jerry) and their son, Austin Owensby. Also surviving are Mickey's two brothers and sister, Jimmy, Tommy and Kathy Hoyle. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Kathy H. McKinney; and a special friend, Joyce Anderson. Mickey's family would like to extend a special thank you to Mickey's many friends for the outpouring of love and support during this time; the physicians and staff at The Brian Center in Hendersonville, Cancer Care of WNC and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, TX. Interment will follow at Lewis Memorial Park. on January 13, 2013.3

He earned his Chartered Life Underwriter designation in 1968 and was the owner of the Cy Scott Agency of Integon Life for many years. Since his retirement in 1982, he could be found every day on the track enjoying life with his many friends at the Roanoke Athletic Club. An avid Va. Tech football fan and faithful member of the Hokie Club for over 20 years, Cy was also a member of the Elks Club and was well known as an elegant dancer by his fellow members of the Cotillion and 300 Club. He attended Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. Cy was preceded in death by his parents, H. Murray and Eva Young Scott of Vinton; his sister, Jeanne Moore; and his brother, James H. Scott, II. He will be sadly missed by his cherished wife and soulmate, Kay H. Scott; daughter, Sharon Scott MaHarry and son-in-law, Robert MaHarry of Ojai, Calif; son, Larry B. Scott of Kernersville, N.C; stepson, Mark Bateman and wife, Diann, of Roanoke; granddaughters, Lindsay Scott MaHarry of Ojai, Traci Scott Walters of Wilmington, N.C., and Terri Scott of Roanoke; and great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Walters of Wilmington. Burial and graveside service will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. on December 19, 2004.2

A graduate of the University of Illinois, Robert quickly rose through the ranks as a designer and art director to become the quintessential ad man. He won hundreds of national and international awards for creative excellence during his tenure as Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Young & Rubicam and President of The MaHarrys, Inc. and Mind Control, Inc. in NY and Florida. After moving to Ojai in 2003, he directed his talents toward creating an award-winning collection of figurative sculptures. MaHarry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Scott MaHarry and their daughter, Lindsay MaHarry, as well as Wendy MaHarry Glodell, Jessica MaHarry, Jennifer MaHarry, Joel MaHarry, their mother Carol, and grandchildren, Hannah Glodell, Zela, Liv, and Koda Henderson, and Elliot Snyder. on February 3, 2019.3
