Edwards Sunday School Class, the Brotherhood and was past deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was also an umpire for the American Legion, Little League and Semi-Pro teams. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Roberts Jacob; three sons, David Jacobs of Statesboro, Ga., Gordon Jacobs Jr. and Wayne Jacobs, both of Charlotte; two daughters, Phyllis H. Edwards of Dunn, and Faye Hall of Greensboro; three brothers, James B. Jacobs of Farmville, Va., Guy T. Jacobs of Carrolton, Va., and Leo D. Jacobs Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Pa; two sisters, Estelle J. Womack and Joan J. Simpson, both of Farmville, Va; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. on June 13, 1997.8
