Wynona was the daughter of Helen Boothe French and the late Kenneth (Coach) French, of Roanoke, Va. In addition to her fiancé and mother, she is survived by sisters, Mary Alice French, of Cedar Grove, N.J. and NiNie Shea and husband, Karl; nephew, Kenneth Shea; nieces, Maribeth Shea and Katie Shea, all of Chicago, Ill; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends throughout the USA. Born in Saltville, Va., Wynona spent her early childhood years in Luray before moving to Roanoke, Va. She graduated from William Fleming High School and attended Virginia Western College. She was a local beauty contest winner and participated in numerous Roanoke area theatrical productions including the Barn Dinner Theatre. Her extensive airline career began with Eastern Airlines in Washington, D.C., transferring to Dallas, Texas, St. Louis, Mo. and finally Virginia Beach, Va. where she retired from US Air due to health issues. Wynona had a vibrant, caring spirit. She was passionately involved and interested in political issues, especially those dealing with human rights and equality. Her brilliance, determination and beautiful smile will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held at the French Family Cemetery in Wolf Creek, Giles County, Va. on January 20, 2010.3
