In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ona Gae (Settles) Paxton; brothers, Paul Brooks Paxton and Robert Allen Paxton; sisters, Virginia Oleda Miller, Retha Mae Paxton, Nina Ellen Bartlett, and Faye Ermadean Roberts; daughter-in-law, Deloris Kaye (McCumbers) Paxton; along with several nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law. Surviving are children, Marvin (Melinda) Paxton, Steven (Carolyn) Paxton, and Paul (Shannon) Paxton; grandchildren, Marvin (Monica) Paxton, Jr., Matthew (Samantha) Paxton, Elizabeth Paxton, and Alicia Paxton; great-grandchildren, Emmett , Brooklynn, and Aleiyah Paxton; and siblings, Alice Ferrell and Gladys (Ed) West. James graduated from Spencer High School and was employed by Kellwood Company for over 40 years. Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Roane County, he was a son of the late James Nevel Craig and Icie Mae Blackwell Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willadean Paxton Roberts; and three children, Debra, Donna and James Porter "J.P." Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, and was a member of American Legion Post 21. He was retired from Crihfield Motors, Spencer. He was a Christian and attended the Advent Christian Church in Spencer. He is survived by his immediate family, including his sister, Naomi Roberts Robinson and her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Darrell Buttrick, all of Elkview; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Clara West Roberts of Vienna and their daughters and a son-in-law, Alegra and Walt Wright of Vienna and Suzette Roberts of Barboursville; and countless other family members and friends.
