Survivors include his wife, Rita L. Hix; sons, Gary Russell Hix (Kelly) and Brian Hix (Valerie); brother, Johnny Hix; sisters, Charlene Connor (Herschel), Nancy Hix, Patricia Joplin (John); and grandchildren, Gary Robert Hix and Meghan Renee Hix. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell N. and Mary H. Hix; sisters, Betty Wills and Treva Foster. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery. on October 28, 2015.²
