Born in Red Ash, Va., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lydia Lankford Whited. She was a retired cook at the Princeton Moose Lodge and a member of the Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Eugene Elmore; two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild. Survivors: son, Stephen (Steve) Elmore of Farmville; daughters, Thuresa Gay Johnston and Lydia (Queenie) Caldwell, both of Farmville and Patricia Ann (Patty) Shreve of Fayetteville; brother, George Whited of Princeton; sisters, Naomi Hunter of Princeton, Kathryn Lamb of Tampa, Fla., and Billie Elmore of Nevada; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. on October 10, 1991.3

Stephen previously worked at the Radford Arsenal and was a diesel mechanic for the WV Dept. of Highways and retired from English Construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his one sister, Lydia Ethel “Queenie” Franklin, Brother in law, Bobby Dale Shreve, a step son Marvin Munoz and the Mother of his children, Jessie Linkous. Survivors include his wife, Linda Jean Bailey Elmore; Children, Diana Cook and husband Dwayne of Concord, VA, Teresa Shawn Elmore and Bridget Holdren and husband David both of Princeton and Heather Munoz of Pipestem; Grandchildren, Alexander McConnell, Catelynn and Jessica Holdren, Joseph Holdren and wife Sarah, Bode Munoz, Elizabeth and Brady Boler; Two sisters, Thuresa Johnston and husband Robert and Patty Shreve both of Prospect, VA; Sisters-in-law, Brenda Taylor and Brenda Smith both of Princeton. Caregiver and friend, Regina Danieley of Pipestem. Brenda Gaye Starling Brenda Gay Elmore, 66, of Princeton, died peacefully on Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 at her home. Brenda was a graduate of Oakvale High School, Class of 1968 where she was the valedictorian of her class. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and homemaker. While her health permitted, she enjoyed gardening; cooking and she especially loved her animals. Born May 28, 1950 at Princeton, she was the daughter of Gladys Louise Carter-Starling of Princeton and the late Milburn Houston Starling. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death two sisters, Linda Carol Sterling Fry and Joyce "Jodi" Darlene Starling Howell. Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her mother, her devoted husband of 48 years, Donald L. Elmore; daughter Jeri Lynn Elmore-Mullins & husband Michael Mullins; three siblings; David Starling, William “Bill” & wife Vicki Starling, Barbara Starling-McGinnis & husband John McGinnis all of Princeton; and a special aunt, Virginia White.
