She married her husband in 1946 and after he graduated from Roanoke College in 1956, he accepted a position with a chemical manufacturer and moved the family to Point Pleasant, W.Va. She joined the Trinity United Methodist church and assisted in the nursery. Bernice read, sewed, canned, gardened, played bridge, chauffeured her children, attended church, and basically was the mom and wife that people dream of today. There was always a home cooked meal, clean clothes, a clean home, and a shoulder if you needed one. She was the first one up in the morning and the last to bed at night. Internment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Airport Road in Roanoke. on June 7, 2006.³
