Born May 6, 1924 in Gretna she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Pickral and Maude Yeatts Pickral. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia P. Berger. Reidy worked for the state of Virginia for 40 years. Working first in the Highway Department and the last 33 years for the office of Attorney General of Virginia. She was a loyal member of the Springfield Primitive Baptist Church. She will be missed by all whose life she touched. She enjoyed making quilts, cooking; and baseball, especially the New York Yankees. She is survived by a nephew, John Berger and his wife, Donna of Raleigh, NC; a grandnephew, Michael Berger; a grandniece, Jennifer Ball and her husband, Andrew; and three great grandnephews. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. She loved flowers and working on her quilts and other needlework projects. She was known as a kind, thoughtful and loving friend. She will be greatly missed by many who will always remember her dignity, grace and unselfish devotion to her family, friends, church and community. Virginia is survived by her sister, Agnes Reid Pickral of Richmond, Va; as well as her son, John Michael Berger and his wife, Donna Farish Berger of Alpharetta, Ga. Surviving grandchildren include Jennifer Marie Ball and her husband, Andrew Ball of Raleigh, N.C., and Michael Thomas Berger of Alpharetta, Ga. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. on October 25, 2006.6

Nancy Ellen Oakes Nancy Oakes Musgrove, age 79, of 1000 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 after an extended illness at her residence. Nancy was born June 30, 1927 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a daughter of the late French Lee “The Shoe Man” Oakes and Janie Yeatts Oakes. She grew up in “the Heights” area of Clifton Forge with her seven brothers and sisters. A 1945 graduate of the former Clifton Forge High School, she married William G. “Bill” Musgrove on March 6, 1950 and the couple made their home in Arlington, Virginia and Berwyn Heights, Maryland, both employed by the Department of Defense. She left her employment and became a homemaker after the adoption of their four children. The family returned to Clifton Forge in 1976 to the home on McCormick Blvd. Nancy was an avid crafter who enjoyed cross stitching, smocking, and in later years, beading and jewelry making. For years, she was a member of the Alleghany Highlands Crafters Guild, where she spent many enjoyable hours creating projects, learning new techniques, and teaching others. She had a love of music and listening to others preach the gospel. She also spent much of her time volunteering at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Her sense of humor and wonderful laugh will be missed, but to her loving family and friends, but she will always be smiling and dancing in Heaven. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Bill Musgrove, in April of 1988, five sisters; Peggy Fout, Ruby Legner, Frances Lemon, Hilda Kelly, and Janie Oakes, who died in infancy, a brother, Leonard Oakes, and her dear friend, Virginia “Ginny” Pickral. Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters; Lynda Musgrove Nicely and fiancé James Bierman of Clifton Forge and Ginny Musgrove Smith and husband Tim of Baltimore, MD, two sons; David Musgrove and fiancee Patty Miles of King George, VA and Kenneth Musgrove and wife, Joanie, also of King George, VA, a brother, Robert “Bobby” Oakes and wife Jean of Florida, eight grandchildren; Stormy Musgrove, Laura Lee Musgrove, Kenny Musgrove, Wendy Musgrove, David Musgrove, Jr., Crystal Musgrove, special granddaughter Rebecca Nicely who grew up with Nancy and shared a mother-daughter type bond, and special grandson Christopher Smith, with whom she shared a birthday and many wonderful times while visiting with him in his Maryland home, a number great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and dear friends, some of which she had since her childhood; Lucille and Gene Buckner of Charleston, WV, Anna Zentmyer Cauthorn of Millboro, and Robert and Betty Long. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
