     Luther Oliver Moser Jr. was buried at Presbyterian Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia.9,6 He Luther O. Moser, Jr., 91, of Madison Heights passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born December 10, 1924 in Lynchburg. He was the son of the late Luther O. Moser and Hettie Yeatts Moser. Luther was retired from Moser Furniture Company. He was a member and former Elder of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He taught Sunday School to teens for 31 years and was a Gideon since 1949. He was a member of the Board of Supervisors for Amherst County for 8 years. He authored the book, “A Sharecroppers Son.” As a veteran of WWII in the 157th Combat Engineers, he was part of the D-Day invasion at Utah Beach. The men in his unit called him Holy Moe; he recalled his experience in the war in, “An essay on D-Day memories.” Luther loved the Lord and was a very thoughtful, caring, and unselfish man. He will be missed by friends and family. In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jean Nissen Moser, childen Lucy O Moser and Mark C. Moser, brothers Charles Moser and Van Moser, sister Ruth Comstock, and sister-in-law Clarice Raley. He is survived by one son, Gil N. Moser (Sheila) of Farmington, NM, three grandchildren, Sydney Moser of St. Augustine, FL, Jeff Moser of San Diego, CA, and Andrew Moser of Denver, CO, sister-in-law, Helen Moser of Lynchburg, brother-in-law Sam Nissen (Ann) of Columbia, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Presbyterian Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.6 He was born on December 10, 1924 at Lynchburg, Virginia.4,5,6 He married Betty Jean Nissen on January 10, 1948 at Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., North Carolina.2,3,6 Luther Oliver Moser Jr. died on September 8, 2016 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 91.6

She was the widow of Charles Owen Moser Sr. Born in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry H. Hill Sr. Hill and Minnie Whetstone Hill. Mrs. Moser was retired from the Lynchburg city Schools, a member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a charter member of The Inglewood Garden Club. She was preceded in death by one brother; Wyatt Hill; and three sisters, Margaret Hill, Frances Quigley, and Ruth Greaver. She is survived by three sons, Chip Moser of Elon, Stoney Moser and his wife, Joyce, of Florida, and David Moser and his wife, Joan, of Lynchburg; two brothers; Mike Hill and John (Bunker) Hill; four grandchildren, Josh Moser and his wife, Erin, Whet Moser and his wife, Liz, Matt Moser, and Allison Moser Magann and her husband, Chadl and five great-grandchildren, Chase Moser, Jordyn Moser, Virginia Moser, Nathan Moser, and Claire Magann. The Rev. She was the wife of 66 years to Luther Oliver Moser. Born July 2, 1925, in Winston-Salem, NC, she was the daughter of the late Koyt Ocosto Nissen and the late Evelyn Baum Nissen. Jean was a retired school teacher for Lynchburg City Schools and a member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where she taught the teens for 25 years. She was a graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL in 1946. She also taught school in Rural Hall, NC and Campbell County, VA before teaching in the Lynchburg City school system. Altogether, she served as a teacher for 36 years. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two children, Lucy O. Moser and Mark C. Moser. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by one son, Gil N. Moser (Sheila) of Farmington, NM; one brother, Sam Nissen (Ann) of Columbia, MD; one sister, Clarice N. Raley of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Sydney Moser of Hilton Head, SC, Jeffrey Moser of San Diego, CA and Andrew Moser of Durango, CO; one brother-in-law, Charles O. Moser (Helen) of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
