She taught school at Chatham Elementary and Straightstone for several years before moving to Arlington to work for the National Security Agency. For over 60 years she was a member of Arlington Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a deacon, kitchen worker, and most recently was a greeter. Mildred married DeWitt F. Burgess on Nov. 7, 1952. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Karen Cosner and her husband, Mike of Danville; a grandson, Brian Cosner and his wife, Sarah; a great-grandson, Jacob Andrew Cosner of Dry Fork; a sister-in-law, Eliza Yeatts of Ajax; four nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one infant son; sister, Kathleen Y. Phillips; sister, Louise Y. Batterman; and brother, Guy H. Yeatts. Millie was loved by everyone as she never said an unkind word about anyone. She will be greatly missed. Graveside services were held at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery, Sandy Level on Monday, Feb. 20, with Rev. Wayne Grinnell officiating. on February 21, 2012.5
