She was born July 22, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Charlie Bailess and Audrey Farmer Bailess. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Altavista and a retired supervisor in the finishing department of The Lane Company with forty four years of service. Eugenia was the first woman supervisor at The Lane Company, first woman president of the Lane Fellowship Club, past president of the women's ministry at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, was considered a mom to all her nieces and nephews, and was loved and cherished by her family. She is survived by a son, Dwaine Reynolds DeLappe and his wife Sandra Haskins of Altavista; two daughters, Dana Hodges and her husband Donnie of Ruckersville, and Deborah Gillespie and her husband Mike of Easley, SC; two step sons, Larry Gammon and his wife Susan and Tim Gammon and his wife Rhonda all of Gretna; a brother, Elmo Bailess and his wife Janie of Hurt; five grandchildren, Jennifer R. Horn, Chad D. Hodges and his wife Amy, Michael K. Gillespie, TaShauna DeLappe Wyatt and her husband Corey, Julie Ann DeLappe, and her fiancé Jason Carson; three step grandchildren, Michael Gammon and his wife Paula, Kayla Gammon, and Seth Gammon; six great grandchildren, Victoria "Tori" Horn, Mason Hodges, Reese Hodges, Pasey Hodges, Layton Wyatt, and McCoy Hodges; three step great grandchildren, Olivia, Myra and Jude Gammon; special nephew and nieces, George Mays, Jr., Betty Finch and her husband Page, Judy Brumfield and her husband Wayne, Paulette Payne, Laverne Betterton and her husband Tommy, and Beth Farmer; and special friends, Doris and Bud Kinsler.      Jack Dempsey Bryant Jack D. “Coach” Bryant, 87, of Dry Fork, Va., passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Mr. Bryant was born February 27, 1934 in Gretna, Va. to the late R. Jackson Bryant and the late Ruth Shields Bryant. He was married to Jean Morrow Bryant, who survives, of the residence. Mr. Bryant proudly served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He earned his BA in Education from Wake Forest University and his Masters of Education from the University of Virginia. He played second base for Wake Forest and was a member of the 1955 National Championship team. For many years he held the record for doubles recorded in a College World Series game and for the series. Jack also played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs. After his playing days he worked at Whitmell High School and then finished his career at Tunstall High School. During his career as an educator, he was a Teacher, a Guidance Counselor, and a very successful Baseball Coach. Jack was a very dedicated and loving man, and he will be missed by all who knew him, especially his dear family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Barry Bryant and Bobby Bryant and his wife Susan; twin grandchildren, granddaughter, Jaki Bryant and grandson, Jordan Bryant. Jack was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Denise Bryant; and a brother, Wayne Bryant. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Danville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jeff Woods officiating.2 He was buried at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Virginia.2 He married Sara Ivagene "Jean" Morrow.2 Jack Dempsey Bryant was born on February 27, 1934 at Gretna, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.2,3,4 He died on March 14, 2021 at Dry Fork, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, at age 87.2

Mr. Bryant was born on November 18, 1938, in Gretna, VA, to the late Ruben Jackson Bryant and Ruth Shields Bryant. He worked at Bassett Furniture Company as a Machine Operator and served two years, 1962-1964, in the United States Army.      Denise Elizabeth Francis Denise Elizabeth Francis Bryant, 59 of Danville, Va., died Friday, February 26, 2021 at her home. She had been in declining health for more than six months and was served by the loving care of Mountain View Hospice & Palliative Care since November of 2020. Born October 4, 1961 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late James “Red” Francis and Doris Rowland Francis. Denise was raised and lived in Danville all her life where she meet and married Barry W. Bryant, on May 28, 1983. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Kenneth James Francis of Danville and his wife Patricia and their children Ryan Francis and Emily Neely, their spouses, and children. Niece Melissa D. Hairston of High Point, NC., and her daughter Olivia Tucker. Parents-in-law Jack and Jean Bryant of Danville, and Brother-in-law Bobby Bryant, his wife and their two children. Special mention to cousin Jerry Rowland, his wife Lisa, and daughter Brandy for all their support; a well as Cousin Faye Emerson and her daughter Dana Shively who assisted with day-to-day caregiving in the home over the past few months.
