Floyd was born May 2, 1930, in Avon, Ill., the son of Ora and Rhoda Black. He served in the military during the Korean War. He married Darlene Johnson in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Silvis; children, Randy (Deb) Black, Macomb, Rodney (Dana) Traman, Taylor Ridge, Julie (Gary) Shafer, Moline, Steve (Ida) Traman, East Moline, Roger Traman, Rock Island, Robin (Lee) Thomas, Moline, and Terry Traman, Orion; sister, Darlene Howe, Knoxville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. on January 14, 2015.3

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn; two sons, Zackary (Samantha Underwood) Putnam of Kickapoo, and Jordan (Amanda Lester) Putnam of Peoria; and one granddaughter, Emilia Putnam. Also surviving are two brothers, J.D. (Sally) Putnam of Knoxville, and Phillip (Lori) Putnam of Abingdon. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his father. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1982. He previously was employed by Illinois Department of Corrections, Knox County Sheriff's Department, and Ameren. He most recently was employed by PAR Electrical Contractors. He was a member of IBEW Local 51. He was a great cook and loved to cook for his friends and family. He enjoyed all sports, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved his sons and granddaughter and enjoyed boating on his pontoon boat. Interment will be in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville. on May 9, 2014.2

A native of Franklin County, Va., he was a local resident for the past 60 years. He was retired from the City of Roanoke as a heavy equipment operator after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and he was the first one called from Franklin County for the draft in World War II where he served in the U.S. Army until the end of World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Jones Underwood and daughter, Sharon Underwood Craft. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Lyle Underwood, Sr. and wife Donna, Philip Brian Underwood, Sr. and wife Christine, Bradley Jones Underwood and wife Sharon. He is also survived by his brother, James Frank Underwood; grandchildren, Jessica R. Underwood, Stephen L. Underwood, Jr., Sarah U. Martin, Philip B. Underwood, Jr., Victor B. Underwood, Alexandra A. Underwood, Darrell W. Craft, Richard S. Toney, and Kenneth C. Toney. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. on October 25, 2004.1
