Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Gina (and John) Beardsley, Gilson; two sons, Richard Kim Johnson, Metamora, and Frank Todd Johnson, Tucson, Ariz; four stepchildren, Dave (and Brenda) Crose, Abingdon, Don Crose, Galesburg, Debra (and friend Brian) Crose, Orion, and Cathy (and Dennis) Ackman, East Galesburg; a sister, Marilyn Theobald, Mount Pulaski; four grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1952. He attended Knox College and was a member of the football team. He joined the Marine Corps and served as a sergeant in the telegraphic operators unit attached to the USS Estes from 1953 until 1956. He worked for the Illinois State Police from 1958 until retiring in 1985 as a sergeant and shift commander for District 3, Des Plaines. He was a life member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381 in Abingdon. His enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and working crossword puzzles. Cremation will be accorded. on December 10, 2006.2

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard King. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Rosemary Nolen King; daughter, Stephanie King Jennings; son, Stephan Wayne King; brother, Steve (Gail) King; sister-in-law, Mary Ann King, Christy N. (Ricky) Crotts, and Pamela N. (Johnnie) Hubbard. Wayne was also PawPaw to grandchildren, Cheyenne (Tyler) Robertson, Colt Gordon, Harlee K. (Chris) McKinney, and Maggie King; great granddaughters, Juliet Marie and Aspen Grace Robertson, also surviving are his nephews, Rick King, Dustin King, Sean Bowyer, Matthew Hubbard, and Daniel Crotts. Wayne proudly served 12 years in the U S Navy 3 of which were as an Air Traffic Controller. Wayne retired after 40 years of service with General Electric. Following his retirement, he outsourced for General Electric for three years in the Shenandoah Valley. Following his time with General Electric he worked for four years with his son at King's Garage; and eight years at O'Reillys Auto Parts. Cars were an important part of Wayne's life. He often raced his 32 Ford Roadster with a Chevy engine at the Roanoke Drag Strip. His greatest hobby was restoring old cars and turning them into street Rods. His projects included a 37 Chevy Sedan Delivery, a 37 Chevy Sedan and a 37 Chevy Coupe. Wayne was a member of the Hanging Rock Rods and loved attending all the Street Rod shows. He was a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church for 48 years and served there as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, worked with the Children's Camp, and the mission trip to Romania. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Ashley, Clara, and Kayla of Good Samaritan Hospice for their love and care. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.4 He was born on May 22, 1937 at Franklin Co., Virginia.1,2,3 He married Ruth Lee Huff, daughter of Lewis Irvin Huff and Mary Elizabeth King, on September 12, 1958 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 Kenneth Wayne King and Ruth Lee Huff were divorced on January 6, 1967 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 Kenneth Wayne King died on September 16, 2022 at Virginia at age 85.4

Walters and Sarah Jane Huling, on April 30, 1890 at Clarion Co., Pennsylvania.1,2 Nettie M. Wiley died on August 17, 1940 at Niagara Falls, Niagara Co., New York, at age 73.2 She Mrs. Nettie (Wiley) Walter died August 17, 1940 at Niagara Falls, N. Y. She was born February 12, 1867 in Knox Township, Jefferson County, Pa. She was married in 1890 to Charles E. Walter, who preceded her in death May 1, 1932. To this union was born four sons: Perry, of New York City; Frank and Charles of Niagara Falls, N. Y. and Harry, who died in childhood. She is also survived by two grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. J. G. Wayland and Mrs. Jennie Chitester, of Brookville, and one brother, David N. Wiley, of Brookville, R. D. 1. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with interment at Niagara Falls, N. Y. Relatives who attended the funeral from Brookville were: Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Vayland, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Best and son James, Mrs. Jennie Chitester, Mr. David N. Wiley, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Wiley and daughter and Mrs. Ray mond Sterck. on August 22, 1940.2
