After graduation from Spanishburg High School he served proudly in the United State Navy in the Korean War, learning the skills of Machinist and Tool maker. He applied those skills in the workplace advancing to Lead Machinist at NCR in Dayton, Ohio while at the same time starting and supporting J & S Trailer Sales, a partnership business with his sister Willie. After many enjoyable years of meeting and connecting with young and old skaters alike, he sold the skating rink, moved the location and the Mobile Home and RV Parts business and started Jennings Construction Company.
