Payne, of Tampa, Fla; three brothers, Wayne Grounds, of Olney, Wes Grounds, of Olney, Mark Grounds, of Jacksonville, Fla; three sisters, Mary Wesner, of Jacksonville, Fla., Jane Dipzinski, of Gaylord, Mich., and Alice Smith, of Houston, Tex; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step-great-grandchildren. He married Bernice Mayo in September 1942. She preceded him in death in July 1948. He later married Telletha Grounds on July 26, 1952. She preceded him in death on December 12, 1996. He retired from Olney Seed & Grain Elevator after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post #30 and Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post #4226, both in Olney. Mr. Pipher is survived by two daughters, Pam Beeler and her husband, Bill of West Terre Haute, Ind., and Sharon Payne and her husband, Norman of Sarasota, Fla; two sons, Jeff Pipher and his wife, Judith of San Diego, Calif., and Gene Pipher of Mt. Vernon; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
