Born Nov. 10, 1939, in Hinton, W.Va., he was the son of Durward and Marie Thomas Shorter of Baltimore. He owned and operated Archie's Place in Clear Spring. He previously was employed by Raymond Metals in Baltimore. He was a member of North Point Baptist Church in Baltimore. He was a member of Potomac Fish & Game Club in Williamsport; Moose Club in Mercersburg, Pa; and Williamsport Redmen 84. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wyand Shorter; two daughters, Sue Noland and Diane Brant, both of Clear Spring; two sons, Archie Shorter of Baltimore and Jerry Brant of Clear Spring; a sister, Mary Walker of Baltimore; a brother, Dale Shorter of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. on March 17, 1999.2 He died on March 17, 1999 at Clear Spring, Washington Co., Maryland, at age 59.2
