     Edward Lawrence "Ed" Varier was buried at Eastlawn Cemetery, 209 West Center Street, North Liberty, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.5 He was born on February 27, 1883 at North Liberty, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.3,4,6 He married Martha Elizabeth Frame, daughter of Nathaniel Archibald Frame and Phoebe Ann Chamberlain, on March 24, 1906 at Indiana.7 Edward Lawrence "Ed" Varier died on September 9, 1933 at St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 50.4,6 He Edward L. Varier, aged 50, a lifelong resident of St. Joseph county, shot himself through the head with a German Lueger revolver Saturday afternoon and died instantly. His body was found by Mrs. Edward Hosler, his landlady, and and James Varier, his son, who heard the shot and went into the house to investigate. The house is on the Ivy road in Clay township, east of the University of Notre Dame. Coroner H. J. Bolka was summoned. He was told that Mr. Varier, a truck driver, had been divorced several years ago. The coroner indicated he would return a verdict of suicide prompted by despondency over poor health. Mr. Varier was born in North Liberty, this county, Feb 27, 1883. Surviving also are his mother, Mrs. Frances Varier, South Bend, a son, Lawrence, who recently returned to South Ben from from Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Edith Holland, South Bend. The funeral will take place from the home of the mother, 1228 King street, at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Daniel G. Dunkin, pastor of Calvary Baptist church, will officiate and burial will be in North Liberty cemetery. on September 10, 1933.6
