She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Peno" Castegnaro; sisters Nellie Armstrong, Virginia Basso and Josephine French; brother Eugene McAlarnis and brothers Dan and James McAlarnis. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Alice Jewel and special son-in-law Bruce, along with a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. The family received friends on Tuesday, April 12 at the Mother of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Services followed with Father Mike Chowning officiating. Interment took place at the Riverside Cemetery in Hazard. on April 13, 2011.1

She was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with nearly 40 years of service. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, Lillie loved her family deeply and was a strong woman of faith, attending Valley Presbyterian Church in Narrows for many years. She also loved flowers, quilting, knitting and helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Ray Elmore, of Blacksburg; a brother, Edward Elmore and wife, Sherry; four sisters, Mamie Philpott, Margaret St.Clair, Ellen Elmore and Phyllis Lyon; a sister-in-law, Martha Elmore; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. on March 22, 2011.1

     Daniel Ray Elmore was buried at Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.2 He Daniel Ray Elmore, 79 of Christiansburg, formerly of Narrows, passed away Tuesday, September 15th, 2015. He was born in Waiteville, West Virginia on August 22nd, 1936, and was the son of the late Clarence Carmel and Lillie Elmore Shrader. Although handicapped as a child with Cerebral Palsy, he worked many years at Camp Easter Seals in New Castle, and also at New River Valley Workshop in Pearisburg and Radford. Dan was a faithful member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Christiansburg. The members there were like his second family, and showed their love to him in many ways. He loved to play solitaire and checkers, and was a big fan of "The Waltons" and "The Andy Griffith Show." His family and friends will remember him by his favorite catchphrase, "Good Boy Good," which he said after every meal. Left to cherish his memory are his caregivers, Emily and Richard Lambert, and Cindy and Steve Lambert, all of Christiansburg; special nurses, Melissa Linkous and Michaela Miller; three aunts, Ellen Elmore of Roanoke, Phyllis Lyons of Bedford, and Martha Elmore of Blue Ridge, Virginia; one uncle, Edward Elmore and wife Sherry of New Castle; many cousins and friends, including special friends Timmy and Toni Robertson of Pearisburg, and Anna Welch of Narrows. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18th, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Brian Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.2 He was born on August 22, 1936 at Waiteville, Monroe Co., West Virginia.2 He died on September 15, 2015 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 79.2

She is survived by her son, Joseph Philpott and wife Carolyn of Martinsville; her daughter, Patricia Cooper and husband George of High Point, NC; her son, James Philpott and wife Jeane of Kyle, TX; and son, Ronald Philpott of Pearisburg; grandchildren, Ben Philpott, Sarah Philpott, Joey Philpott, Jessica Barker, and Brad Cooper; and great grandchildren, Wynn Philpott, Tate Philpott, Patrick Barker and Eli Barker. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Elmore and wife Sherry; her sisters, Ellen Elmore, Phyllis Lyons; and sister-in-law, Martha Elmore; and many nieces and nephews. Mamie lived most of her life in Pearisburg. She was a charter member of the First Christian Church, and in later years, a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, a knitter, and loved being a good neighbor and being a grandmother to all the children in the neighborhood. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 10, 2014 in the Givens Funeral Home Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, with visitation being held from 9:30 AM until the service. on October 8, 2014.2

     Margaret Arlene Elmore was born on January 11, 1925 at Kire, Giles Co., Virginia.5,8 As of December 9, 1943,her married name was St. Clair.3 She married John Smiley St. Clair on December 9, 1943 at Washington, D.C..5,2,3 Margaret Arlene Elmore died on May 4, 2013 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 88.5 She Margaret Elmore St.Clair, 88, of Christiansburg, formerly of Newport, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Margaret was born in Kire on January 11, 1925, to V.C. and Sarah Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John St.Clair; her brothers, Harvey Elmore and Russell Elmore; and her sisters, Nannie Elmore and Lillie Shrader. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Assunta St.Clair, of Roanoke, Patrick and Mona St.Clair, of Mt. Morris, Pa; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Kenny Bishop, of Riner, and Rebecca and Charles Ware, of Richmond; grandchildren, Richard St.Clair, Carrie Magill (Merin), Kevin Bishop (Rilka), Gavin St.Clair, and John Ware; and great-grandchildren, Memphis and Emilee-Anne Magill. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Elmore (Sherry); her sisters, Mamie Philpott, Ellen Elmore, Phyllis Lyons; sister-in-law, Martha Elmore; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret leaves many friends from Newport where she lived for many years and attended church, and her treasured neighbors from Windsong Heights, and her friends from Christiansburg. Margaret graduated from New Castle High School. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an active member of her community in Newport. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, volunteering at the Newport fair, and her sewing and needle crafts. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed studying the Bible. Her family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, the staff at Heritage Hall and MediHome Health and Hospice. on May 10, 2013.5
