He is a Vietnam Veteran and a purple heart recipient, former football and wrestling coach at Nitro High School, and is a Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee. Steve was a graduate of WV State University, an avid WVU fan and a member of the Charleston Area WVU Fan Club and was a Baptist. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest “Ron” and Garnet “Edie” White and brothers Mike and Ronnie. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carole Bowen White, daughter Danielle Hoptry and husband Jon, son Steve White, II and wife Dawn, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
