Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Elmore Patton; three daughters, Mrs. Alma Maynor of Mount Hope, Mrs. Ada Smith of Covington, Va., and Mrs. Bernice Hill of Woodbridge, Va; three sons, Terry of Fairfax, Va., T. Sgt. Perry and S. Sgt. Okey Patton, both stationed with the Air Force at Goldsboro, N.C; a brother, W. M. Patton of Covington, Va; and a sister. She was born in Craig County in 1921, the daughter of Vandon Worth Elmore and Arvada Caldwell Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Francis Dupell in 1989; and brothers, Bowman R. Elmore and Jackson G. Elmore, both of Craig County. She was baptized into the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in 1932 and was a charter member of the Pearisburg Christian Church where she held many offices in the church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. One of her great joys was planning and chairing the church's 60th reunion in 2006. Flossie was a graduate and valedictorian of her class at New Castle High School. She retired from the Celanese Fibers Corp. Flossie was a long time and dedicated volunteer for the Giles County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Mountain Mist Garden Club, the Pearisburg Women's Club, and the Giles Senior Center Advisory Board. She was also the family genealogist. She was an avid reader and bridge player. Since 1979, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Her many travels included thirteen cruises. She is survived by her son, Brian, and daughter-in-law Eugenia, of Stuart, Fla; a daughter, Deborah Dupell of Charlottesville; two sisters, Shirley E. Brookman of Roanoke, Peggy E. Winesett and husband, Steve, of Rocky Mount; two sisters-in-law, Anita M. Elmore and Margaret B. Elmore, both of Craig County. Flossie is also survived by grandchildren, Jason Dupell of Statesboro, Ga., Sarah Colon and her husband, Roger, of Stuart, Fla. and Lindsey Dupell of New York City; and great-grandchildren, Savannah and Christopher. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. conducted Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Jonathan Webster officiating with entombment following in the Birchlawn Abby in Pearisburg. on January 26, 2017.2

He was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church, was a retired employee of John W. Hancock Jr. Inc. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Brookman; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Bobby All of Nashville, Tenn; one son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Paula Brookman of Roanoke; one brother, Roy Brookman of New Castle; one sister, Lucille Sweeney of Roanoke; four grandsons, Jimmy and Mark All of Nashville, Jeremy and Zachery Brookman of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, with the Rev. G. William Foster Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on June 22, 1993.6

     Preston Steve Winesett was buried at Franklin Memorial Park, Virgil Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.3 He was born on January 12, 1938 at Galax, Virginia.1,2 He married Peggy Lou Elmore, daughter of Vandon Worth Elmore and Arvada Caldwell, on August 29, 1959 at Radford, Virginia.1 Preston Steve Winesett died on January 1, 2018 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 79.3 He Preston Steve (Doc) Winesett, 79, of Rocky Mount died unexpectedly on Monday, January 1, 2018, at his home. Steve was a graduate of Emory & Henry College, Emory, Va. and the Medical College of Virginia, School of Medicine, Richmond, Va. He served as a doctor on the USS Charleston, LKA-113 and retired Navy Lieutenant. He worked at Wolfe Medical Group in Rocky Mount, Va. and retired as a doctor with the Salem Veterans Administration in Salem, Va. He was a devoted member of The Rocky Mount Christian Church. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rose Winesett of Rocky Mount, Va. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Winesett of 58 years; and his children, Preston Steve Winesett, Jr. and his wife, Beth Winesett of Reston Va., Lori Winesett and Kelly Smith-Price of Roanoke, Va. and Donald Andrew Winesett and wife, Leslie Winesett of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren, Olivia and Emily Winesett and Lucy Smith-Price. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Winesett and wife, Sybil Winesett of Rocky Mount, Va; and sister, Susie Doughtery and husband, Joe Dougherty of Roanoke, Va. The Winesett family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Va. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, with the Rev. Matt Ricks officiating at Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 S. Main St, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. on January 3, 2018.3

He was born on May 23, 1954. He was the son of Shirley Elmore Brookman and the late Ralph Nelson Brookman. This world was not his home, he was just passing through. His treasures he laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckoned him to Heaven's opened door, and Heaven will be His home forever more. Nelson was a longtime member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of Williamson Road Lifesaving Crew. Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Paula Lancaster Brookman; two sons, Zachary Brookman and his fiancé Tonya Turman and Jeremy Brookman and his fiancé Jennifer Taetz; brother-in-laws Garrett Lancaster and the late Debbie Lancaster, Daryl Johnson and his wife Vera, Joe Spillman; predeceased granddaughter Kristen Brookman, surviving grandchildren, Andy Early, Brianna Early, Cameron Brookman, Corey Bryant, Malachi Brookman, Trey Brookman, Danyel Brookman, Devin Voorhees, Marc-quis Taetz; one great-grandson, La'Kyren Taetz, honored granddaughter, Briana Gillespie; and his sister Dianne All; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
