     Ernest Paul Arbaugh Ernest “Paul” Arbaugh, 81, husband of Venecia Arbaugh, left this world peacefully in his home on, Monday Oct. 20, 2014. He was born on Sept. 17, 1933, on Muddy Creek, Mt., Alderson , WV; son of the late Alexander Taylor Arbaugh Sr. and Amanda Susan Ballengee Arbaugh of Alderson. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Clara Belle Anderson of Lewisburg, WV, Robert Arbaugh, Marion Arbaugh, and Alexander Arbaugh Jr. all of Waynesboro. After playing four years of high school football for the legendary coach Abe McLaughlin, he graduated from Alderson High with the class of 1952, he went on to marry his high school sweetheart in 1953, and then entered the armed forces. Arbaugh, was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and the Army Reserve from 1956-1961. Finally settling in Waynesboro, he gave thirty three years of service to DuPont. When Paul wasn’t found at home cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers, he could be found many nights at either Eastside Speedway or Stuarts Draft High School enjoying what he loved most, football and racing. He was a former member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, and a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Stuarts Draft. Survivors include his wife Venecia Elmore Arbaugh of Stuarts Draft, his brother Clarence “Harold” Arbaugh of Freemont, NE, his sister Lorene Huffman of Hinton, WV; his son Richard “Dicky” Arbaugh, and two grandchildren Jacob and Sarah Arbaugh, all of Staunton. Honorary Pallbearers are his DuPont co-workers and his fellow racing group, Mark Tyree, Tom Goforth, Bobby Arbaugh, Rusty Arbaugh, Mike Armentrout , and Roger Welcher. A graveside service will conducted at 2:00 p.m. at Augusta Memorial Park on Thursday October 23, 2014 with Rev.      Robert Thurmond Hedrick was buried at Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, Greenbrier Co., West Virginia.^5,2 His Social Security Number was 235-16-9672.⁶ He was born on January 26, 1917 at Alderson, Greenbrier Co., West Virginia.^1,2,4,6 He married Mary Madeline Elmore, daughter of Oscar Benton Elmore and Cora Edith Burns, on April 17, 1940 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,5 Robert Thurmond Hedrick died on July 1, 1999 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 82.^2,3,6 He Mr. Robert "Bob" Thurmond Hedrick of Newport News, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Riverside Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Hedrick was born in Alderson, W.Va., on Jan. 26, 1917, and settled on the Peninsula in 1942, where he became a member of the welding department at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. He retired from the shipyard as a welding supervisor in 1977 after 35 years of faithful service. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Mary E. Hedrick, formerly of Monroe County, W.Va; and his devoted daughter, Barbara J. Hedrick of Newport News. Mr. Hedrick was a longtime member of Parkview Baptist Church in Newport News, where he attended the Steadfast-Simpson Baptist Class. He was also a member of the Peninsula Retired Men's Club, the Shipyard Retirees Breakfast Club and Mended Hearts Chapter 119 and a past president of the Exchange Club of Denbigh. Friends and relatives, countless nieces and nephews will cherish the memory of Mr. Hedrick as a loving, giving, friendly and honest man who will be sorely missed by his community and his family. The family will receive friends Monday, July 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Alderson Baptist Church, Alderson, W.Va., Wednesday, July 7, followed by interment at the Alderson Cemetery. on July 3, 1999.²

(Hill) Wickline, 57, died Monday afternoon in a Fairlea hospital after a short illness. Born at Hollywood, Sept. 23, 1916, he was a son of Annie Canterbury Wickline of Sweet Springs and the late Euris W. Wickline. He was a retired construction worker and was a member of the Bruff's Memorial United Methodist Church. Other survivors include his wife, Rosle Elmore Wickline; four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Hoke of Hollywood, Mrs. Phyllis Dunbar of Union, Mrs. Kaye Dunbar of Door and Pamela, at home; two brothers, Otis of Dunbar and James of Covington, Va; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Morgan of Stuanton, Va., and Mrs. Louise Ferguson of Belle, and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home in Union with Rev. Doyle Cruikshank in charge. Burial will be in the Clearview Cemtery near Union. Friends may call after 11 a.m. today. Pallbearers will be Wade, Virgil and Fred Helvey, Marion Kilchrist, Bill Hylton and Marshall Glover. on August 14, 1974.³

Wykle, 84, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at The Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fairlea. Born July 19, 1923, at Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Merritt and Audrey Baker Wykle. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Shirley and brothers, Clyde and Basil. Gerald was a retired Greenbrier County school bus driver. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mattie; daughter, Patty Erskine and husband, Robert of Ronceverte; sisters-in-law, Virgie Wykle of Fairlea and Beulah Wykle of Ronceverte, and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Donnie Elmore and the Rev. Susan Erskine officiating. Burial will follow in the Honaker Cemetery at Ronceverte. Pallbearers will be Bennie Elmore, Darrell White, Winfred Baker, Gary Morgan, Carl Dunbar, and Tony Erskine. on May 20, 2008.⁵

Born Sept. 16, 1924, at Second Creek, he was the son of the late James Everett and Cleo Vance Trent. Mr. Trent was a lifelong resident of Second Creek, was a World War II veteran and was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Bell Trent and two brothers, Paul and Jasper Trent. Survivors include his wife. Betty Elmore Trent; two daughters, Vicki C. Morgan of Frankford and Regina Thompson of Second Creek; five sons, Ron Trent of Summersville, Gary Trent of Organ Cave, Michael Trent of Second Creek, Steve Trent of Sinks Grove and John Trent of Lancaster, Pa; three sisters, Mary Reed of Pickaway, Nellie Williams of Fairlea and Bertie Nickell of Bryantown, Md; 14 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Second Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church at Second Creek with Rev. Connie Bowles officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, with military graveside services. on August 23, 1995.⁴
