Her husband Gerald was known as the “Sock Man” at the flea markets. She highly enjoyed trips to the Smoky Mountains. Mattie loved getting her hair done weekly. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Compton Wykle, daughter, Patricia Wykle Erskine, sisters, Mary Hedrick, Delores Boyce, Danese Saunders, Gay Dalton and Rosie Wickline and brothers, Theodore, Walter, Gordon, Bernie and James Elmore. Survivors include her sister, Betty Trent of Second Creek, WV, son in law, Robert Erskine of Ronceverte, WV, a host of nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Alinda Perrine.
