Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Elmore Patton; three daughters, Mrs. Alma Maynor of Mount Hope, Mrs. Ada Smith of Covington, Va., and Mrs. Bernice Hill of Woodbridge, Va; three sons, Terry of Fairfax, Va., T. Sgt. Perry and S. Sgt. Okey Patton, both stationed with the Air Force at Goldsboro, N.C; a brother, W. M. Patton of Covington, Va; and a sister. Miss Myrtle Patton of Gap Mills, Va. on June 3, 1960.2

Elmore, 90, of Newport died Wednesday, October 2, 1991 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Craig County, February 28, 1901 and was preceded in death by her husband, Vandon W. Elmore, and a son, Jackson G. Elmore. Surviving are a son, Bowman R. Elmore, New Castle; three daughters, Flossie Dupell, Pearisburg; Shirley Brookman, Roanoke; Peggy Winesett, Rocky Mount; three sisters, Reba Caldwell and Myrtle Canode, both of Newport; Eula Bell, New Castle; 12 grandchildren, Verlyn Elmore, Roanoke; Angie Bean and Clyde Elmore, New Castle; Brian Dupell, Sparta, N.J; Deborah D. Rogers, Charlottesville; Diane All, Nashville, Tenn; Nelson Brookman, Roanoke; Gary Elmore, Catawba; Randy Elmore, Charleston, S.C; Steve Winesett, Fairfax; Lori Winesett, Rocky Mount; and Andy Winesett, Williamsburg; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Forks of John's Creek Christian Church where she was a life long member, Hershel Stone, Minister officiating. Interment will be in the Huffman Family Cemetery. on October 4, 1991.2
