She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pickaway, and a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Robert Nelson Pomphrey of Union; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery, Pickaway. on April 2, 2004.3

Walter Cullen Chesser Walter Cullen Chesser, 81, of South Point, Ohio entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, July 26, 2020 after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his wife, Milly and their children. Cullen was born on October 14, 1938 in Giles Tuscal, AL, the son of the late Joseph and Nannie Chesser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janice Chesser and a son, Lloyd Chesser. Cullen is survived by his wife whom he loved with all his heart, Milly (Kinder) Chesser of South Point; a daughter Julie Hagl (Greg) of Cincinnati, OH; and a son, Buddy Rudolph (Kim) of Zephyrhills FL; grandchildren, Joshua Chesser and Nathan Chesser both of Birmingham, AL; Victoria Stauffer, Kylie Hagl, Camryn Hagl and Xander Hagl all of Cincinnati, OH; Aysia Kelly of Lakeland, FL, Lauren Rudolph and Charles Rudolph both of Zephyrhills, FL. Cullen retired from AT&T as an Employee Mental Health Counsellor. He received his Bachelor’s degree at Samford University in Birmingham, AL followed by his Master’s Degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Cullen was ordained as a minister of the gospel on September 21, 1975. Throughout his lifetime, he pastored several churches in Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio including: Immanuel Baptist in Slidell, LA; First Baptist of Oakland Park, FL; First Baptist in Casselberry, FL; New Covenant Baptist of Brooksville, FL; First Baptist in Andrews, NC; and Fairland Southern Baptist in Proctorville, OH, where he served approximately 11 years. Cullen loved preaching and ministering to the needs of his church families, and he leaves behind many special friends. He was an avid learner, and he loved to read and study the Bible and reference books. Throughout his lifetime Cullen amassed an enormous library. Cullen served his beloved country as a soldier with the Alabama Army National Guard. He was a member of the Dolomite (AL)Masonic Lodge 452 F&AM. Cullen loved sports, but his passion was University of Alabama Crimson Tide Football for whom he was a loyal armchair coach and quarterback. He was very competitive and pitched in a men’s fast-pitch industrial softball league for many years. He enjoyed a good golf game, and he was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle rider from a very young age. Cullen was truly a southern gentleman with a genuine love for people and a great zeal for life. His work on Earth is done, and he is now with his Lord and Savior in his heavenly home. “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:23.3 He married Milly Kinder, daughter of Brady Clinton Kinder and Margaret Claudine "Maggie" Pomphrey.1,2,3 Walter Cullen Chesser was born on October 14, 1938 at Giles Tuscal, Alabama.3 He died on July 26, 2020 at South Point, Lawrence Co., Ohio, at age 81.3

Charles Bernard "Bernie" Kinder Charles Bernard (Bernie) Kinder passed peacefully to be with the Lord in the early morning on August 30, 2020. He was born to the late Brady Clinton Kinder and Margaret Claudine (Pomphrey) Kinder on January 8, 1945 in Pickaway, WV. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jack Kinder & Carl Kinder, and his sister Elizabeth Berry, and brothers-in-law Frank Berry and Cullen Chesser, and sister-in-law, Charlotte Lewis Kinder. A 1964 graduate of South Point High School, he proudly served in the Air Force as a C-130 Mechanic, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, then came home and served as a volunteer Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy, and started working for People’s Life Insurance upon receiving an honorable discharge after Vietnam. He spent the remainder of his life building a successful independent insurance agency, and serving his community as a South Point Local School Board member for 20 years, Cub Scout leader, and a faithful member of the South Point Church of Christ. Survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Gilda Jean (Kearns) Kinder; sister Milly Chesser (Cullen), brother Joe Kinder (Leesburg, Fla); daughter Kristi McComas & son-in-law Raymond McComas, Jr; daughter Candida Reece & son-in-law Christopher Reece; grandchildren Alexandria (McComas) Freiberger (Tanner) Hunter McComas, Trent Kinder, and Jadeth (Zoe) Kinder, his extended family, many friends, and colleagues- he will be forever remembered and dearly missed until we see him again. Private family services will be held. She never met a stranger and her quick wit and beautiful smile made her many friends throughout the years. Cora was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton and was a member of the Holliday Sunday School Class and the Wesleyan Guild. She enjoyed giving devotions and programs throughout the community. She was also a member of the Princeton Delphian Club, Maple Valley Homemakers Club, the Bud & Blossom Garden Club, Princeton Chapter of the AARP, and a Wednesday Bridge Club. Cora served on the City of Princeton Beautification Committee, and was a member of the initial committee which established The Princeton Health & Fitness Center. She was also a former clerk for the Tuberculosis and Health Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Pomphrey and Grover Pomphrey; and one sister, Margaret Kinder. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Clement Eugene Crowe of Princeton; one daughter, Dr. Judith Crowe Carter of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Scott Sears officiating. Clem was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil, and Water Conservation Service working in Monroe County for eleven years before transferring to Princeton in 1959. After retiring in 1980, he was employed by the Southern Soil Conservation District and the Mercer County Commission. Throughout his working career Clem received numerous awards and citations for Outstanding Work Performance and for Work Improvement on Economy in Operations. He also received a Letter of Appreciation for work on the Brush Creek Watershed in 1984 and the Mercer County Commission in 1989. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton where he formerly served as Chairman of the Administrative Board and President of the United Methodist Men. He was formerly an active member of AARP having served as President of the local chapter, Assistant State Director, and member of the State Legislative Committee. Clem was a 70 year member and Past Master of Monroe Masonic Lodge #77, AF & AM, Past President of the Bluegrass Ruritan Club in Monroe County, former member of the Board of Directors of the East River Volunteer Fire Department and Princeton Elks Lodge #1459. His wife of 65 years, Cora Pomphrey Crowe; four sisters; and two brothers preceded him in death. Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Judith Crowe Carter of Princeton; one sister, Victory Crowe of Huntington, WV; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Clem will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, October 24, 2014, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Scott Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be E.G. "Peg" Tolley and Ed Horton.4 He was buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.4 He was born on January 6, 1922 at Barboursville, Cabell Co., West Virginia.2,3,4 He married Cora Ozella Pomphrey, daughter of Charles Lawrence Pomphrey and Ocie Ella Elmore, on October 7, 1949 at Union, Monroe Co., West Virginia.1,2,4 Clement Eugene Crowe died on October 21, 2014 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 92.4
