Miller, 68, who has suffered from emphysema many years, died yesterday at 1:15 p.m. at his home on Kunes St. He had been bedfast several weeks, after hospitalization in March. Born July 5, 1901 at Howard R.D., Mr. Miller had lived in this vicinity most of his life. He was the son of Albert and Isabella Bowes Miller, and has been preceded in death within the past three years by two brothers and a sister, Ellery and Walter Miller, Howard R. D; and Mrs. Gertrude Holter, Beech Creek. He worked 30 years at the Beech Creek General Refractories, then, until retiring, for the Pennsylvania Highway Department. His wife, who survives, is the former Alma Stricker. They were married March 3, 1924. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Grover McCloskey, Howard R.D; a grandson, Richard W. Miller, at home; and niece whom they reared, Mrs. Raymond Phillips of Dover, Del., mother of two daughters and a son. Surviving brothers are Donald Miller, Howard RD; and Floyd, Elmira, N.Y. on May 16, 1969.²

She had worked at Sylvania, did private babysitting and had helped on the family dairy farm. She is survived by one son, Richard W. Miller, of Bellefonte; one step daughter, Patsy Singer, of Howard; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank. Memorial service will be held, Monday, May 17, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Centre Crest Nursing Home Chapel, 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, with Rev. Alex Dyakiw. Burial will be at Schenck's Cemetery, Howard, at the convenience of the family. on May 13, 2010.²

Heichel, 87, of Lock Haven, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born April 14, 1924, in Blanchard, the son of the late John W. and Mildred I. Strickler Heichel. On Oct. 30, 1942 in Clintondale, he married the former Elizabeth C. Heichel, who died March 22, 2008. John was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Force. He first worked for the Brick Yards in Orviston, and then Sylvania of Mill Hall, and then Clinton Paper Company. He retired from the Instrument Repair Shop of the Hammermill Paper Company in 1986. John was an avid sports fan and loved baseball and the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed attending the Blanchard School reunions and in his earlier years was an avid hunter. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had been in a band when he was younger He is survived by a daughter, Joni Gale Borger (Owen), of Moshannon; three sisters-in-law, Judith Dunkle, Eleanor Condo, "Bootie" Condo and Ruth Heichel; two brothers-in-law, Richard Condo and Donald (Mona) Condo; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Heichel. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. on June 27, 2011.³
